Thats now the thing, i never insult ppl i only tease others, but i never use cursing words towards others, cus if i want to insult them i mostly ignore them and fill out a report after where i explain everything into details, but i never ever did curse like how u meant it.
Unless they did punish me on my own BUT word, i mostly say butt instead of but, it just goes automatically, but then again, thats just a teasement, not meant as bad word, and i really cant see which is normally censored and what not.

You report people you want to insult? I hope you just worded that wrong.

And still, teasing isn't a defense. People don't just get slapped with punishment because they said 'butt' instead of 'but'. There's more to this, I'm sure of it.

Yeah, I’m fairly certain “butt” won’t even fall into the “Profanity” category. It’s unlikely it wasn’t something more than “butt”. Either a “worse” curse word, or you used a slur.

If you were using a curse word even as a light tease and someone interpreted as an insult, they could have reported you for it and you will be punished for it if they took offense or thought you were insulting them; regardless of your intent. Either way, you were reported for using profanity and received a strike for it.

That is (still) not what the ToS says. It says you may get punished regardless of intent. Not will. It is an option for the GM to apply if necessary.

And as I have said before, I expect it's to be applied when someone claims they didn't mean offence, but clearly did, and the GM needs more power than "one person's word against another" - and to solve what was apparently an issue with the old ToS that someone couldn't get in trouble for doing something unless they explicitly stated they were doing it deliberately.

This is not about that one clause in Prohibited Activities you like to quote about intent, and how punishment may be bestowed if you’re found to violate the rules. If you’re reported for cursing, you’re going to be talked to about it—it’s fairly black-and-white in this instance. The severity of the swear—as well as any prior reports—are likely to determine which kind of “talking to” you get (e.g., warning, temp-ban, etc.).

My talk about “whether this was your intent or not” is more so applied in a sense of “you were talking to people who obviously are aware that you use this kind of language—but Bobby over there saw your language and he didn’t like it, so he reported you for it”.

You’re more likely to get punished for cursing in this game than anything else because it’s something that can be easily confirmed via logs. If you’ve cursed before and have walked off scot-free, that’s more likely because you were never reported. Not that a GM read the report and was like “meh, it was okay for them to use the F-word this time”.

And yes, I do "like to quote" it (but not because I like bringing it up over and over), because people keep misinterpreting it and ranting against the misinterpretation as if it were fact. And I hate incorrect information getting passed around.
