    So today's patch has increased Genesis weekly gain to 900, which means players should have plenty of time (roughly over 3 months) to gear up on 390 stuff ready for ShB. Savage locks have been removed as well, so will be plenty of opportunities to avoid having too low ilvl gear moving forward.

    But that's just wishful thinking....

    It's a good thing the MSQ gives you free 240 gear to meet that item level requirement!
    They didn't back when the content was more current. That was something they had to add in later as a catchup aid.

    Still doesn't mean it isn't clunky as hell for the game to start letting you do a quest, only to be like "nah, never mind, you're too wimpy" when you're staring down the big bad dragon. It should just tell you outright before you even get there that you'll need more ilvl to proceed.

    Adding in a min ilevel for levelling dungeons is a good start, but I would also advocate for a minimum weapon ilevel needed for content as well. Since this is your main source of damage/healing, it is probably the most important piece that needs to be kept up to date.

    It was just the other week I ended up in an expert roulette with a DPS in at least i390, but their weapon was only the i290 antiquated weapon and this was Ghimlyt Dark. Infact, you might be surprised how high your ilevel can be in full i390 and a level 1 weapon (my quick maths indicates about i330) which in theory can get you into plenty of endgame dungeons. Of course, this is an extreme example, but it still highlights potential problems (for the record, an i290 weapon hits about i350 as an average). My personal gauge for an appropriate weapon is it has to be at the minimum ilevel for the content otherwise it is inadequate, you could get away with a bit lower in most content however.

    Priority should be a minimum ilevel for all dungeons and trials though, which should be the first step into trying to make levelling dungeons not as much a roulette on whether your team makes are up to the task or not.

    I agree. A friend of mine had a tank in Xelphatol that had a level 58 weapon, and the healer in there actually defended him because “the dungeon let him in” and “tank DPS doesn’t matter”. The DPS, however, showed that having a decent weapon clearly does matter, as both were ripping off of the tank with the level 58 weapon WHILE the tank was in their tank stance AND with both DPS actively rotating Diversion (and Lucid, since one was a RDM).

    When they kicked him, I offered to fill in at the behest of my friend, and the healer subsequently argued with me about how “weapons on tanks don’t matter” and “level 58 in a 60 dungeon isn’t that big of a deal”. Except when you see that the weapon was an ilvl 145 weapon in a dungeon that syncs to about ilvl 270, and you actually compare the differences between the 58 weapon and a level 260/270 weapon with regards to weapon damage and mainstat.

    I don’t think people understand how the damage you deal as a tank also directly affects the enmity you accumulate. If you have high damage, you’ll generate more enmity; if you have crap damage, your enmity is going to be crap. It’s the same for healers: a shoddy weapon is going to give you shoddy heals; a stronger weapon gives you stronger heals. Honestly, though... the game should teach these sort of basic concepts.

    I would like to add to this prolonged issue throughout the years I've played. Average gear item level needs to be added to the leveling dungeons along with average weapon item level. With only average item level in place people try to fudge their item levels with gear only just to meet the requirement for areas that have item level specifications.

    The average Itemlevel is useless poeple gear until the score is reached. Needless to say nothing is gained besides the awkward situations and wipes because some players think "when SE let me enter im ready for it". We need a system that says "on every slot you need atleast ilvl xx to enter"

    Average ilvl is a start, i know that you could cheat the system and that it would be way more useful if every item you are using has to be the required ilvl. Honestly we could be happy if SE ever implements a min ilvl for leveling dungeons over all.

    Average ilvl is then cheated by many. I see poeple in Orbone, alphascape, and so on with such crappy gear . Sometimes on the rigth and even on the left side are items missing. I dont think SE will even recognizes this as a problem.
