If a tank is getting 1 shot or a healer is running oom, sure there's an issue. But we're talking about slower clear speeds right? We're not talking about a wipe fest?
It has nothing to do with mass pulls. There have been instances reported on here and Reddit about people going into Stormblood dungeons with weapons and accessories from ARR. I've seen people in unaugmented i200 gear in SB dungeons (left-side gear, too - NOT accessories). There have been dungeons where I have the highest HP as a HEALER.

It's a royal pain to deal with players like this because they have aggro problems (tank), survivability problems (all roles, but especially tanks), healing problems (healers), and poor damage (all roles but particularly DPS).

At the very least, have a minimum ilevel that is equivalent to the vendor bought gear for the level (Rounded down so an odd level dungeon uses the previous level gear as min ilevel. For example Shisui requiring level 62 vendor gear ilevel)

It's not particularly hard to pick up new gear from a vendor, even if you're leveling a secondary class so aren't getting free HQ gearsets from MSQ.

Also, remove the unique restriction on dungeon gear. Like, I'd often have better gear using dungeon drops, but if I do that, it locks me out from greed rolls on that item during future runs... Meaning that I'm incentivized to use worse gear that won't conflict with drops >.>

That and it also makes no sense for unique restrictions on gear anyway (For example, multiple sets with different melds. 2 of the same ring such as Tomestone purchased stuff...)

What? You don't use certain gear in dungeons if that dungeon drops that same piece of gear? I don't understand what you're saying.

Yeah, I tend to stick with crafted, MSQ provided HQ stuff or at worst vendor gear as opposed to dungeon gear.

Due to the frequency of how often I will run dungeons and have the same gear drop and then be unable to roll greed on it if I already own it.

While I have plenty of reasons for wanting more greed rolls, such as to exchange for GC Seals (Which I still have some use for) or Desynthesis.

Bearing in mind that it's not just having the item equipped, but even just having it in your armory/inventory will lock you out of rolls on it. For... Reasons? I dunno. I don't fully understand the reasoning behind such a feature outside of preventing "Need" rolls on already obtained gear (But as I never use Dungeon gear, I never actually click need on dungeon gear...)

Unless it's HQ, NQ vendor gear is actually weaker than the previous dungeon's gear, so it'd be having the opposite effect; you'd have people growing weaker than if they just kept the previous dungeon's gear. It would also make dungeon gear literally useless outside of the dungeon you get it at and below, since its ilvl would bar it from being used in the next dungeon under your ruleset. (Shisui's 63 gear would be barred from Bardaam's for only being 270 instead of the crafted's 273 for example, despite being way more than adequate for the dungeon.)

ilvl checks are important, but they don't need to be anywhere near as tight as that.

I don't necessarily disagree with the request, but the leveling dungeons are part of the MSQ, and so for new players to be suddenly told, "You need to go farm old dungeons and / or purchase vendor or play gear to meet the ilevel requirements of the new leveling dungeons," is off-putting, to say the least. In fact, this is likely why there are no ilevel requirements as it is, for S-E does not want players to quit the game because they have to do that, when they just want a story experience. What I think is a much more prudent change, is an ilevel upscale, assuming you meet the dungeon's physical level requirement.

This idea doesn't hold up as strongly since Baelsar's wall is part of the MSQ as well; and that has an ilvl of 235(?) attached to it thus if they haven't reached that ilvl, they aren't allowed to continue with the MSQ anyway. There's plenty of ilvl barriers throughout the MSQ, they're just always at max lvl of that expansion instead of through it (except the end dungeon & trial of each which do have one.) Considering the SB MSQ also hands out free gear like candy, it'd also be impossible to get gated by any ilvl requirements if someone is actively taking upgrades. The ilvl lock would be more a QoL to make sure people can't bring their alt jobs into these dungeons with whatever gear they hobbled together from the inventories, even if that stuff was lvl 1.

The thing is, an ilvl upscale would run counter to every other portion of the game, especially endgame content, where you are gated from entering content until you have a high enough ilvl. Adding an ilvl upscale would encourage the opposite mentality in players, who would just assume further that gear doesn't matter and they don't need to upgrade.

I'm also not convinced by the progression-barring argument, as the MSQ tends to shower you with good HQ gear at appropriate points; new players working through it the first time should have plenty of good gear options available and wouldn't need to run dungeons multiple times to gear up. The main problem comes with people leveling alt classes, who often don't realize that they need to seek out alternative sources of gear and thereby come into content with too-low ilvl gear. Adding a reasonable minimum ilvl that doesn't bar the path would be the best solution.

Edit: MariaArvana's posts also point out issues with that argument; looks like we overlapped on the post timing.

Unfortunatly, it is not enough, you will still find players who use whatever they can only to get the minimal gear level requirement. But yes wrong/undergeared (and/or unskilled) players are a utterly bothering.

And I agree with Seraph522 : the worst I saw are players leveling alts or secondary job. They take anything they have as weapon or gear and imagine they are PGM (but in reality a nightmare to play with, causing multiple wipes). But I met other players, who, as I do, start Brayflox with the full gear (and are ready to play solo with their main to get the proper stuff -or to buy/craft proper stuff)

I hit 60 on my MCH just before Stormblood released. Once I hit 70 on my main, I decided to level MCH next and, not remembering the proper item level for Sirensong, entered the leveling roulette while woefully undergeared. The first boss's unavoidable group-wide AoE one-shot me every time. And of course with how little DPS I was contributing, it cast that AoE a lot.

In conclusion: There should definitely be item level requirements for leveling dungeons.
