Japanese casting spoilers?

Full JP Fanfest details are up on the Lodestone, and something caught my eye as I was reading through it: Welcome to Naoki’s Room, Yoshi-P's talk show segment, has a total of five voice actor guests over two days. That wouldn't be remarkable on its own, except that three two of the five VA guests aren't currently credited in any installment of FFXIV.

Partial guest list:

Yuma Uchida
Tsuguo Mogami - voices Artoirel
Itaru Yamamoto - voiced Grynwaht
Aoi Yuki
Yoshino Nanjo - voices Krile

Starting from the top, Yuma Uchida is Maaya Uchida's little brother (and she voiced Ysayle), so I always figured the JP version's love of casting gags would have him brought in eventually. Was he Asahi? Could he be the Voice? (Are those two mutually exclusive with all the double- and triple-casting?)

I will admit I had no idea who Tsuguo Mogami is, but he's one of those guys with a truly stunning array of minor roles.

I also like to think I would have noticed Aoi Yuki if I heard her in-game (she's kind of a big deal, but also absurdly versatile), so I'm really wondering what she's doing at an FFXIV event, talking to the director of all people. For all I know she could have voiced Ultima, though, so who knows?


Not sure any of this is that important, especially considering the 4.X credits have yet to roll, but while we're all desperate for any kind of new information leading up to Fanfest and 4.56 I figured it was worth pointing out.

Aoi Yuki had a small role in the Dad of Light special, voicing "Kirin" according to Wikipedia (I haven't seen the special, so I'm not sure who/what this is specifically). Tsuguo Mogami voiced/voices Artoirel de Fortemps, according to Heavensward's credits. Yuma Uchida has not had any credited involvement in FFXIV yet; not sure if he voiced Asahi, since he first showed up in 4.2 and wouldn't have been credited (I think...) in Stormblood's credits. We'll find out next Tuesday, at least, if not during the panel itself. Of course, as you mentioned, they may all have new roles in Shadowbringers due to dual-casting, especially since most of them (with the exception of Yoshino Nanjo and, to a lesser degree, Itaru Yamamoto) have had relatively minor roles previously.

50/50 on good/bad feeling for me - good to see him back in the story, just hopefully not with a bad outcome... D:

I'm still hoping he's there to have an unexpected encounter with Carvallain.


A pity they couldn't have worked him into the Ghimlyt Dark NPC group though. Too many characters already, perhaps - although it would be neat if he's actually there somewhere in the 'decorative' NPCs fighting around the edges of the field.

Pretty much exactly my own feelings. It would be nice to see him have more story importance again, but I wouldn't put it past the devs to bring him back just to make the gut punch hurt all the more if a major calamity occurs like they've been hinting at. As I mentioned in a previous thread, House Fortemps has suffered enough.

I'm still hoping he's there to have an unexpected encounter with Carvallain.

That too, definitely! Would be a great place to resolve his storyline. (And possibly bring Rhoswen in as well for even more wellspring-of-comedy...)

Or could have it come up in AST separately to the Carvallain/Rhoswen running plot, I suppose.

He's part of the recent generation of male seiyuu with horrifyingly broad range, so I can't find a role that matches exactly, but at least going by texture I think he could be a match. Now that I know to keep an ear out for him, I have a few other roles I can reference.

(And if he is the Voice, he gets bonus casting gag points for playing Kyo Sohma opposite Miyuki Sawashiro's Kyoko Honda in the upcoming Fruits Basket remake.)

Not familiar with the Japanese cast so I had to look that up. (Miyuki Sawashiro plays Minfilia, if anyone else is wondering.)
