Thank you for responding the crash happens on both x11 and x9 at varying times and places. Never happens in cutscenes but anytime that i have control of the game it crashes. Both in benchmark and in proper game. Tried locking the FPS to 72 and it didnt help on either clients or launchers. Permissions are set up to allow all the games versions of boot and launcher through my firewall. Times still vary between 10min to 1hr. Used DDU to clean out drivers and Reinstall. Used the "start up" tab for a clean boot and it didnt work. Been launching in Administrator mode and nothing helps. I can provide pics of that if u need. Already turned off the "Game" mode setting as well. Borderless, Windowed, or Fullscreen, nothing matters it always crashes within 1hr of launching. If the game is allowed to run minimized it can go forever but once i click into it and start moving the crash emerges.

Ran 3 more tests today. I tried running the game and the benchmark in borderless windowed mode and got similar errors. I also got farther than I ever had running the game in x9 windowed at 720p. Nonetheless the errors happened.



this is the error for the borderless window test. took 30 mins to get this to occur. it was X9 at 1080p. left the character idle in a bush in Gardania. not too populated camera facing a wall of shrubbery.



this is from the benchmark test. I got this one time and then every time after that I get nothing but a stutter and the game window closes and the benchmark option reappear. no errors. no black screen. just the window crashing the benchmark instructions popping back up.



this is from running the game for about 2-3hours in windowed mode at 720p. framerate was locked to 72 and i was actively playing the entire time. did the quest from 1st Ifrit fight all the way to meeting the grand companies. crashed upon reaching Tataru.

During none of these do i ever experience lag or stuttering. No audio desync or anything at all. The game just hangs and this error appears followed by me being forced to click OK and close the game.

After changing my settings yet again i found a more stable way to run the game for 7+ hours in the background. As long as I dont allow it to be the active window it can run nonstop. But once it's the focus it closes after about 4 hours. I have it Windowed at 1600x900, 36fps capped at DX9. The graphics are custom utilizing the High Laptop setting as a base and opting out of HDR and DoF. On 2 separate occasions i received slightly different errors. I'll place them below:



this test lasted 5 hours with it focused for around 4 hours



this one happened after running in the background for 2 nights and on the third day i let it be active window for 5 hours followed by this crash

You may want to try setting the compatibility mode to Windows 7. Right-click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7.

Additionally, make sure that there are no overlays present while playing the game (Discord overlay, Geforce Experience, etc.)

It has been going on ever since i came back to the game. Which was a few weeks ago. The last time I played successfully was on a different computer, a laptop. I have done 3 installs recently. The first was to fix the problem. The second was after seeing that other had similar issues and they had tired it and it worked for them...it didnt for me. And the third was after starting this thread. I did the reinstall on the 18th and have been running tests since. My CPU and RAM are overclocked just so that I can run the game smoothly. It works fine with others and is an XMP profile fresh from my motherboard so its very stable. I ran Heaven benchmark for 36 hours on these profiles and they had no crashes so they seemed fine to me. I have all the .exes running is Win7 mode. Including boot, boot64, xiv, and xiv_dx11. I uninstalled Geforce Experience when I DDU'd my drivers. I manually installed them promptly after in safe mode. I ended Discord's task before every test run and the Stormblood Benchmark. I dont have any overlays including the Win10 Game Bar thing. Im clean. All that runs is the game and Task Manager. After lowering my OC on 6600k from 4.3 to 4.2 the problems disappeared. the OC was unstable after all. ran the benchmark on High (Desktop) Dx11 for 6 hours. No crashes whatsoever thanks for the help <3. Look forward to seeing u both in-game D
