I am looking forward to this change. Yoshi-P explained the logic behind it and I agree with it. This is a necessary step forward to 2.0, nothing more, nothing less.

the cure cast is so fast that if people are having issues then they really need to adjust the way they play. I only see PvP balancing and more strategy involved with playing BLK with this change. if they where able to freely move and cast all day long they would be able to kite anyone to death once PvP is introduced thus making them very OP which would probably result in an over the top nerf.I know. But look at the people we are dealing with in this game.
Edit: What I'm mainly talking about though is people not being able to cure tank because the a running from cracks and can't cast and run back like most do. And/or the back wave move will cause interruptions now causing it harder to heal. I won't and you won't but many people will like always,
For the Burst damage, it's based on having lower HP and in the video the BLM was at around 1/3-1/2 hp. The spell might scale so that it only does crazy damage when you're in the single digit % hp, since it always seemed like it was meant to "combo" with Convert.
Thanks for someone that pointed out the "You are moving" arrows, I think that's a neat addition. I don't mind the spell interruption personally, I barely ever move when I'm casting and this will save me if I screw up timing in Ifrit. WHM's assumedly better healing and Regen should also give us more breathing room to run away/back from Eruptions.
Also, anyone notice the different effects/sounds while comboing? The first, second, and final steps all have different effects and I think it's pretty awesome.
They're adding this to balance pvp and for the concentration needed during casting to be properly demonstrated. It doesn't really seem 'next generation' fun, but at least it's balanced and makes sense.
PVP is going to be a big thing in this game, Yoshida has stated that many times before, so you can't say this is being added for something that's not important.
As for the difficulty of the Ifrit Fight, it will hardly change at all. If anything it's just something new for people to get used to, and the good players will. People who are expecting that you should be able to dodge after Ifrit has used the ability are expecting it to be too easy. It shouldn't be as simple as a reflex move. That creates the environment of 'I'm not actually paying attention to the battle whatsoever but if cracks show up beneath my own character I'll move'. Ifrit is meant to be hard. Not every person is supposed to be able to defeat him. Only the people who can focus enough to understand his movements are meant to topple the primal. If you can't do that, I'm sorry, not everyone is equal, try harder next time.
Burst seems pretty cool. I'd like to maybe see it do a little more damage though. I'd imagine these abilities coming out with fifteen minute recast timers to really shine when used in things like Primal fights. But using a spell with long casting is risky and considering you can only use it to boost your performance once in those fights you should be able to see the difference in damage. When people parse it tends to give them a drive to do that much better. Lets say a person does 12k damage in an ifrit round. Giving them the spell Burst which what we've seen increases on thundara's damage by only 5oo damage (and the spell isn't instant). Now when he parses he'll be at 12.5k. I don't imagine this is not a noticable enough increase to warrant to risks of a long casting time spell and it doesn't seem dramatic enough for an ability that you can only use once.
You don't need a reason to help someone~
you missed the opportunity for a title like we interrupt this casting to bring you....
burst looks weak ><
I had some important addition to this conversation but I moved and forgot what it was.
