First off I just want to point out that support to this point has been pretty terrible. I followed every single step here on another thread. I took great care in writing EVERY single step I did in the "Steps taken so far" section. Pretty much EVERYTHING I read on the tons of info on internet and from this forum thread for the issue. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...13-25008-10009
Whats the first thing they do...repeat EVERY single step I just listed above. I have tried the Internet Explorer Tweaks. I have done port forwarding steps specific for my modem https://portforward.com/technicolor/tg589vn/ (Yes I am directly connected wired.)
I have turned off Firewalls (Just windows defender on my gaming box)
Let me preface it with a few things that i think it might be...I do live in Brazil with Network provider Live Tim. I play FF14 via Seam and all of my other Online Steam games have no issues. Let me further state that I have played pretty much EVERY single MMO and countless other Online games not once have I had to mess with Internet Explorer settings (A browser id say most people don`t even like or use) or log in and port forward my settings with my current ISP since I have had it. So ok...lets say there is nothing you can do...I can understand that honestly and not mad, nor am I mad at my ISP because to this point I never struggled with ANY online game and I wont list numbers of games but to say this is only game I ever struggled with says something about the patching or DL process.
So why do so many people have this issue you can search the error and even on reddit people just say try one of the steps on this giant list of people with same issue? What is it about these ports that you use impacts such a wide range of ISPs? Why are there not other options to patch? I seen plenty of games with Torrent patching, or the ability to select other options. I will not pretend why I understand why the launcher uses IE settings nor will I claim to understand why the launcher is so dated looking (could just be my perception but looks same as long as I can remember, and I even put up with the original horrid launch of the game and bought a WHOLE new account on 2 systems since I lost the old one and got no support). If its my Router or my ISP ok fine I can deal with that I just don't get why is all. Another thing to point out I have been able to PAY for a good VPN and got this to work...I literally paid for THAT vpn 2x over the course of a year or 2 Just to play your game. When i'm in and patched no issues just downloading patches game runs and connects just downloading big patches sucks. But I am not going to pay 10-15$ every time I want to play your game to a good VPN. I don't want to log in to my router (even though I am tech savoy, just imagine those who are not) or be online with my ISP and blame them for why I cant play a huge Online MMO, one of like a handful that are actually successful enough to still have a subscription. I am changing ISPs to Fiber not because im upset just would like to upgrade so maybe it will be fixed then, but that is in 2 weeks so I would like to play the game I am paying a subscription for and have not been able to play for last week.
