    Unbearable lag on Chaos

I recently joined a static that raids during 6pm - 9pm server time, and noticed that I was oftentimes lagging and started using a VPN that keeps track of my current ping.

After a few days I learned that my latency for the most part is fine earlier in the day (40-60ms with occasional spikes to about 100ms)

But when it's time to raid, it's constantly hopping as high as 500ms, and this goes on until around 8:30pm.

What bothers me is that I don't know if this is a problem solely on my end, or if Chaos is just so full of players that the traffic on the data center is causing it.

I'm on mobile connection, using Huawei B715s

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did you first start experiencing this issue? Had you attempted raids/dungeons before you joined this group without issue?

From your description, it sounds like you are hitting some kind of congestion along your route to the server. I don't necessarily mean the server is congested, but you are running into problems before you hit that point. This usually happens in the evenings when everyone is using that particular route for one reason or another. The game will require a more robust connection than most other non-gaming, online services.

By mobile connection, do you mean a wireless connection? A wireless connection can make a situation like this worse. If you are able to connect via an Ethernet cable, that may help stabilize the connection.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
