the problem is even though we know they are rmt, you cant just ban them without proving it

and since they havent engaged in any actual rmt activity yet, there is no proof, and that is why these people are not getting banned yet

the guy 8 boxing could be doing it within the rules of the game, its when he crosses that line and does something against tos(like sell gil) that he will be nailed

and i wouldnt doubt they have an eye on those accounts already just waiting for a reason to pull the trigger, problem is, as i said, gotta get that proof first

Its really odd....but most of the time ive seen bots in xiv is in/around cedarwood. Back when i first started, i literally saw a real bot.... the char walked like a robot and had sparks flying from it.....was the weirdest thing ive seen ingame....and oddly enough havent seen one like that since then.....whazat. i dont understand is: why even bot? Theres not a lot of people who play this game, so the audience/market for gil buying just isnt there....so imo its pointless.

a video of the bots doing bottish things

the second group is about the same as the other except this grrop has linkshell tags that are just as random as their names are. the second group also is activating leve's but not doing anything

the full group about 12 in all ( apple and men are normal people that happened to be standing around )

    group one :

    CNJ 39 - There day
    CNJ 39 - Turner Anm
    CNJ 40 - Sky Club
    CNJ 40 - Seven Loo
    CNJ 40 - Housr Los
    CNJ 39 - Marik Gry
    CNJ 39 - Viou Amx

    Group two:

CNJ 50 - Fyce fuzz - Alexandra Linkshell
THM 9 - Have Milk - New Moon Linkshell
CNJ 50 - Foob Kccc - Yoland linkshell
CNJ 50 - Faina More - Bum Kanikuly linkshell
CNJ 50 - Fur Two - Bum Kanikuly linkshell
THM 19 - Faurlee Many - Bob Love linkshell

which brings me to my main question. if Sqex has such a negative view on botting why is there no easy way to report bots from in-game?
Don Bother with this .. Probably Ashvrei will just close it down like he did when i try to report Botter/RMT/Dualboxers on also Halatali and Also Lalafels of WUTAI Server , in this "CLOSE" Thread. Well so far they are still there... tough luck im just goign to "quote" Ashvrei

    Hey Lauro and everyone,

Thank you for taking the time out to report your concern regarding suspicious behavior. We have gathered the information you posted and will be sure to escalate this to the Special Task Force where they will be handled accordingly.
We understand that suspicious behavior such as odd names, synchronized movement, and always rolling in the same group are factors used to consider when investigating. However, this evidence alone can't necessarily confirm that they are exchanging Gil for real life currency/using third party programs.
We do have a form to escalate this suspicious behavior to the Special Task Force, where they can review their activity and confirm any involvement with malicious activity. The link located here:
    http://support.na.square-enix.com/co...hp?id=902&la=1

We do want to make it clear that it can be considered against that policy to publicly post names and label them real money traders despite your good intentions to improve the community. Therefore, it would be best to utilize the Special Task Force report form to prevent any grief for innocent players in the unlikely event they get caught in the crossfire.

The corresponding FINAL FANTASY XIV forum policy is as follows:
"Posting that constitutes discrimination against another forum member or group (also including forming groups for the purpose of discrimination), insults, slander, libel, harassment of a group or individual."
    http://support.na.square-enix.com/ru...la=1&tag=forum

    Thank you,
    -Ashvrei
This is Exactly what i said on my Wutai Forums and they are still there.. same bunch..

I remember seeing a blatant bot on Trabia about a month ago.
Seems SE doesn't care about them even if they are extremely blatant.

I found this one quite funny though. They seemed to spam one set of keys over and over so the moment a mob stepped in front (within range) of them they would start casting fire.
What made it funny was that you could pull mobs to in front of them and have them kill it for you and when I said "thanks for the PL" to them later on they didn't have a clue what I was on about (I used them to PL a friend ;P)

I saw one running back and forth north of horizon for over an hour. I was wondering wth was going on, but then realized after using Arbor Call it was constantly changing targets between the two trees on the opposite side of the crater. So his bot program must have been spamming it as well confusing the logic program and making him run in circles w/o him even realizing it. XD

I agree that boting is in and of itself a problem. I am certain that there are people logged into every server at this moment who actively violate the TOS, and some of those are in fact engaged in rmt.

Before SE can act they need proof of wrongdoing. Your reasoning seems more based on the idea that if you accuse someone of boting it automatically follows that they are guilty, and SE is then required to act on your accusation and issue a ban. If SE doesn't do so then you reason that they don't care, or are being profit minded.

It would be a very bad thing if SE banned people simply because another player thinks they are guilty of something.

You are assuming that behavior X automatically leads to behavior Y. A person who wanted to pay the sub on 8 accounts could legitimately use the mechanisms of the game to make gil for themselves in that very same way. Prior to the leve gil nerf this might have been a legitimate way to rmt, but now I don't think that's the case. You would make way more gil, and spend far less real world money farming the right items with a single toon.

I knew a six-boxer on my server in XI. He was pretty famous and a perfectly nice person who just enjoyed the challenge of running his own 6 person parties. If you didn't know him you could certainly look at his 6 characters and call their behavior suspicious, but he wasn't actually doing anything wrong or violating the TOS.

    --

Its funny how in XI I remember people claiming that shell X was botting whenever they claimed an NM over us, but when you would tell them 'if you think they cheated call a GM' there was always some excuse not to actually involve SE in determining if they had in fact really cheated.

If someone claims an NM over you it doesn't automatically follow that they used a bot. If you accuse someone of wrongdoing with disappointment, anger, or jealousy as your motivation it's not only bad behavior most moral codes treat it as worse behavior than cheating in a game.

I know in XI some shells did bot, and some shells botted everything. This included NMs in abyssea that repoped in 5 minutes. That's pretty lame, but it's up to SE not us to determine who those people are and punish them.
