Ya the real crime here is that the botters just aren't very creative. That's what really struck me about the photos of the "unproven suspicious activity people". If they would only put some effort into their names and character models I would be happy to have them as a part of the community, as is though it's just unacceptable.

every one says to pick up on the people who are buying gil. how exactly would you accomplish that. there's no wallet auditing tools.

if ffxiv had the transparency of that eve online has it wouldn't be very hard to pin the gil buyers

I know Thev is a famous devils advocate and all, but I am here to tell you; WE CAN be the judge and jury on this kind of behavior, it's blatant and obvious.

And if any real Legit player accidentally gets banned for acting this way, then they are a MORON for acting like a bot!

Be normal, and you won't run the risk of being banned. It's not a grey area man....it's just effing obvious lol

yes i am a devils advocate, thats just plain obvious, but theres more to what im saying and some people realize it but the witch hunters dont

but i still cant agree here, we have no right to punish other players, thats not our job, its our job to report them, its SEs job to investigate and determine guilt or innocense



giving players any power in the judgement process gives them the power to abuse the hell out of it
itl get abused, people will "power report" people with their friends that they dont like just to get them banned, and itl work, because people like you want to give that power to the players
and dont tell me it wont happen, cuz it does, people already try to do it now(its been tried on me cuz someone didnt want me to leave their ls at launch) and it doesnt work cuz once again, players have NO POWER to ban people, SE will always investigate cuz its just plain wrong to ban the innocent.

So... There was a bot killing raptors at iron lake, Free Love. I reported the bot via SE support site.

The next day I was back at Iron Lake soloing my last combat class and the bot was still there... I said F it ill just compete for mobs. It started nuking my claimed mobs, so I started claiming the mobs before it and letting it kill them.

(You'd think if this was a player I would have heard something like... Stop.... Or anything of that nature. An emote, anything...)

Am I wrong for taking advantage/delaying this bots progress on farming? Or was it justice?!? Moral grey area?

Keep in mind if SE hadn't made it so people could attack each others mobs, this botter wouldn't of been able to PL me on accident. Instead I'd be actively delaying the cheaters progress whilest exping instead of actively delaying the cheaters progress and inadvertently getting PL'd.

that is one way to really determine if they were a bot, and its a good one to benefit yourself in the process(especialy nice that it works with the new mechanics for claims, and the bots probably havent updated their programs to compensate for it)

1 report doesnt always do it though, id say report him every time you see him, eventualy he will get investigated and something will happen


and no, nothing wrong with what you did abusing the person botting, if there was a problem, they woulda complained, and they didnt cuz well...they werent there
