A Fatal DirectX has occurred (1100002)

Hey all,

I've been having this error for the past few days and I can't seem to fix it, I've already tried numerous solutions I've spotted elsewhere that haven' t solved the issue.

Here's what I've already tried:

-Reinstalling the game
-Reinstalling my graphics card drivers
-Ensuring all overlays are turned off
-Disabling start up programs
-Making sure both Windows and my GPU are up to date software wise
-Manualling updating DirectX
-Adjusting PC power options
-Adjusting clock/memory speeds on my GPU
-Disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome

I'm at my wits end with this as nothing has fixed the issue. If it helps system specs are:

-AMD Ryzen 7 2700x CPU
-Strix RTX 2080ti GPU
-Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR4 16gb RAM

And FFXIV is usually ran in DirectX 11 when it works.

Any solutions you could offer me would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

Have you noticed any changes to the PC at all? Also have been any updates made to the computer? Could you also provide a system report? Simply go to the''Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

Thank you for replying, Dynratygus. No changes to my PC were made until AFTER the error had started occurring as far as I can recall. There is the potential for a Windows update to have occurred without my noticing though.

Does this crash only happen on DirectX11 or does it happen on DirectX9 as well? If you have not done so already, could you try running the game on DirectX9? Try switching to by selecting the ‘Config’ button on the launcher. Please try a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. For Windows.

I have been having this issue for weeks now.

Out of interest, does the error occur if you apply the 30FPS frame limiter under in game settings? I have yet to have a it happen if I do this.

The game is virtually unplayable otherwise but if this works for you it might help untill a REAL fix is found.

Hi Dynratygus, I've been running the DirectX9 version of the game for around five hours now and the error has not occurred, so I'm assuming that the error is specific to the DirectX11 version of the game. As for the 'clean boot' option, I have previously tried this, disabling everything but Windows Security Notifications as I felt that was important.

Hey Evan, gave this a try and the game has been running for close to thirteen hours now without crashing, which is very strange, considering the game can run fine at 60FPS in DX9 and 30FPS in DX11, but can't do 60FPS in DX11. It definitely seems as if it's tied to the frame rate somehow.

I've been running the game in DirectX9 for a few days now without the crash, as for DirectX11 it runs without crashing when in 30FPS but 60FPS is unusable as the game will crash within a few minutes. Do you have any further advice on how to fix this issue?

I am having this same issue and it's just been since the last all worlds maintenance a week and a half ago (March 6, 2019). I'm not sure how to address it because the day also coincides with when I got my new computer built, so I'm not sure what is issues with the build or issues from the patch. I would like to know if anyone has had luck resolving the issues, as it stands I haven't been able to play using dx11 and I still crash while using dx9.

Dynratygus, it's been a week and the issue is persisting in DX11 at 60FPS (The issue doesn't occur in DX11 at 30FPS or in DX9 at all).

Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?
