    Computer monitor for FFXIV

I'm looking to get a decent monitor to play FFXIV on. I don't know much about what to look for when it comes to a computer monitor for gaming. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction? I'm looking to spend around $100-$120. I eventually plan to get a second monitor for dual screens in the future.

    Thank you

For a gaming monitor, I'd suggest you to look more at response time than anything else. Given your budget, I will look for a 1080p 60Hz and from the few choices you eventually find, get the one with the lower response time.

5ms is pretty standard, 4ms goes to be on more expensive ones.

I have a Sceptre 24" I am happy with for FFXIV. It's not the best, but the price didn't break the bank either. Another approach would be to look at the dell or neweqq refurbished stuff - assuming you are ok with refurbished. You can find some good deals there too. good luck.

    Hello !

I assume this monitor would be for gaming in general, and especially FF14.

Now FF14 is a beautiful game, which I believe requires a good image quality. Response times are not as important as it seems, as they are usually quite low nowadays on every gaming monitor. So unless you want to do Competitive CS GO or LoL and you actually need that 1 or 2ms difference in input lag (which honestly is so small) at the price of a good image quality, I suggest you go with an IPS panel, which offers the best image quality and, let's say it, very very close response time nowadays than to TN conter part.

I have found 2 models that will suit your need, both affordable and IPS :

-> the Acer SB230 Bbix 23" Full HD. This one ranges from 100$ to 120$ so it's perfect for you (check out amazon). It is also a Freesync monitor, and so you can enjoy Freesync with an AMD GPU.

-> Or the LG 24MP59G 24" : very similar to the former, slightly larger and more expensive (you can find it just under 150$ USD) it has also Freesync BUT it is also Nvidia Gsync Compatible ! so you can enjoy Freesync with a Nivia GPU too on this one ! and works well with a larger refresh rate that the first one.

Oh and both these models offer a very nice response time. I would even use those for any competitive gaming.

On a personal opinion, I'd go with the LG one, I think the tiny price increase is worth it, especially if you have a Nvidia GPU.
