I'm honestly a bit surprised at the impatience of people about not being able to choose the server they want on the first day.
Everyone knew that servers were merging along with choices to move. Perhaps people assumed the servers could hold more than they can. There's plenty of time still. If I were moving I'd be at the server merge page as much as possible, waiting for people to move out. Good luck to everyone.

Masamune in particular seems quite a popular name.. Good luck to those who want that one. :x

I thought option 4 was best. People could go wherever they like. But people chose to limit themselves. It's too bad.

Yeah because servers couldn't possibly fill up if everyone and not just 5% of the population was forced to choose a new server (like for example in every MMO launch ever).

The problem, if you'd call it that, with this option is the existing populations creating very limited space for transfers between servers. In option #4, every server would have been empty and people would have been able to migrate in larger amounts. There are exceptions either way, but yeah. Would have been much different had we gone with the other option, at the least for those who wanted to join other communities rather than merge with the defaults.

The option to transfer is a courtesy for those that want to move it is no guarantee that there would be room on the server you want, the option the community chose was in no way going to allow mass amounts of people to go where they want since people were not removed from the servers.

I've got some additional details to share with you all in regards to the Worlds being at capacity on the application page. Multiple times throughout the day, the data will be collected and reviewed by the development and operations teams. Once they've calculated the amount of space that has been opened up from characters transferring, they will then manually update the application page to change some Worlds from "X" to "△". This will often take place from the hours between the evening to the morning each day (PST). Users wishing to move are urged to check the application page during those times for newly opened Worlds.

The only problem causing the servers to be "full" is Ragnorak. It has so few people that they closed the rest of the servers to try and drive people there.

The vast majority of the community who wanted a regular/sane merger, never really wanted Ragnorak anyways.

Apparently neither did most Europeans. If anyone should be mocked it is all the idiots who cried for regional servers, and how given the choice everyone would flock to a server where they could finally be free of all the tyrannical JP only players.

There's no difference if server 1 and 10 filled up by 3 am too, and only half of a linkshell got in.

The most popular servers were overfull during the Collector's edition pre-launch access, causing horrendous lag. But they didn't have a limit then. With option 4 there would have been a limit, and the most popular servers would still fill up very fast. You would have the same problem.

Its like the old FFXI days when you would camp out waiting for that NM to spawn against 4 Bots and 5 other people camping. Its silly to think that whole LS want to transfer when the best option is to just stay where they are lol.
