I think you are right. The inactive accounts are bogging down servers maybe. I was under the impression though, that SE would only be taking into account, active accounts. This whole server merge would make zero sense to me, if they were worried about inactive players...
Well. Only a very, very small amount of the playerbase roams the forums. We are the few and the proud.Well based on the numbers that were floating around on previous forum threads, no server was even close to 2k. Hypothetically speaking, if people move, that opens up room on the server they move from. If ppl join that new server that has free space, the server they left, frees up and so on and so forth.
Unless spend and average of around 50-60% of their time online it'll a lot higher than 800-1000 people.
Because presumably, when the servers first opened there was space to move. As time goes on more and more servers are filling up but the population of the servers they were assigned to should also go down.
Since Ragnarok had noone to start with, anyone that has gone there should also free up space on the other servers.
With the current state, unless Ridill started with a high enough population to fill every other slot on every other server whist maintaining a population itself AND covering anyone that moved to the empty Ragnarok then something here isn't right.
That's still not an impossibility. It's a small improbability. All we get is a symbol that denotes a range we don't know, not a definitive number that exemplifies a player distribution.Unless spend and average of around 50-60% of their time online it'll a lot higher than 800-1000 people.

Right. Given that Ragnarok is still low enough to show ○ the population there is still very low.
There is a change that the buffer on top of the original population was set too low.
But even given these, why would there have been a mass exodus from Ridill?
Also, Ridill was originally only a single servers, Selbina, other servers were made up of 2 or 3 servers. Was Selbina's population really so high that it can still hold △ level of population whilst filling the other free slots?

i think the merge put 2k active people on the server (all time zone) Cornelia avg about 500 people at any given time, so you have to think maybe about 800-1000 people are active in that server.

always looking for good people.
It's an evil plot to get people to Ragnarok >:3

The problem is. SE is expecting(expected?) a lot of the EU's to go to Ragnarok. Which right now isn't happening. so Ragnarok has maybe 100-200 people on it right now. every other server is full.

They may open it up again for "short periods" during Peak Times for each Zone, so Peak Time NA, Peak Time EU. I find it hard to believe the servers are capped already when its only really JP time, and prolly not JP Peak.
They did say they want to balance it out as much as pos for timezones, this doesnt seem like so if they only benefitting JP/those awake/atwork XD
