Where should this go to get answered by Square Enix?

With the new update with the Steam version of FF14. My biggest question is whether they are finally separating Steam and PC in the Mog Station. Because for some of us in the community may not know in your account Steam and PC count as the one and the same. The biggest difference is that if you buy on steam you'll forever need to buy the steam version and the same goes for PC.

In order to align closely with Steam policies, we plan to implement a restricted login check process for Steam service account users.

Current:
FINAL FANTASY XIV Steam version clients can currently be opened directly without going through the Steam application and is possible to use the regular Windows version client application for Steam version service accounts.

After the change:
For Steam version service accounts, the FINAL FANTASY XIV client application will need to be started up from the Steam application's Play button. Any other method of direct startup will no longer be available.

The update above has people in the steam owners of this game upset. I know personally that quite a few players including myself would like to a PC version rather Steam. We are all willing to rebuy the game to change where we have to buy FF14 from. With ShadowBringers coming out and allowing to get the previous expansions along with it. Seems to be a good time to let the community be able to switch over, but with the date of Late March it seems that Square Enix may be making a mistake as several people have already preorder the game. There be outrage because of that as always, but I believe it be in Square Enix's best interest to finally separate Steam form PC in Mog Station.

There may be something in their contract with Valve; remember Valve get a cut of everything in Steam. I dont know why people insist on a 'Steam version' of everything.

As someone who uses both PC and PS4 you can use the same characters on either because you're accessing the same account. Just make sure you link your PSN to your SE account properly.

P.S. If the seperation of the Steam and PC for accounts happen I would like Square Enix allow the ability for people to be able to keep their characters. As I seen on different forums that they don't allow for a PS4 charcter to be acess on a PC version of the game. If I'm wrong please let me know. Thank You.

That is incorrect. So long as your account owns both PC and PS4 licenses, you can access your characters on both platforms. (I own ARR+HW licenses on both PS4 and PC since I switched to PC around Patch 3.5, so I can do ARR and HW content on both PS4 and PC - conversely, I cannot do SB or ShB content on PS4 as I only own a PC license for them.)

This is why I don't understand why SE doesn't count the Steam license separate.

They already get twice as much money from people like me who maintain dual licenses on PC and PS4. Why not allow the same for people on regular PC and Steam? Plenty of comments in the discussion thread from people who would be willing to buy the game with a standard PC license all over again, if they could link it to their existing SE account and not lose their characters.

This is a Mogstation issue, not necessarily a Steam issue. Steam should have absolutely no means of stopping players from maintaining dual licenses on their accounts.

I understand that, but some people saw it on steam and just bought it there or had friends who knew about the problem, of that if you buy it one place ( i.e. Steam or PC) you are forever buying from there, and said nothing about it. Also for the fact there are people who want to move from steam to PC and can't because the product code count as a PC code either way is the problem. People are wiling to pay Square Enix again to just forget about Steam. Which means they are in giving Square Enix another ~$100 dollars per person without Steam cutting into the profits.
