Game Crashes Upon Examining a Character

As the title indicates, my game crashes whenever I examine someone. It's not every single person that it happens to, but it seems it has to do with them wearing something specific.

My assumption is that it may be the new elemental gear that was added from the Hydatos patch recently as when I told the player in question to link me their gear, it resulted in this.



I was able to mouse over them fine. I was able to "Try on" the items fine. No crashes. But when it comes to examining the character wearing it, the game will crash. I do not know if it is examine-specific or character specific as they are a female au'ra and I preview them on a male lalafell, but that is all I was able to figure out.

I've tried checking my drivers (updated graphics one after this issue arose and still no fix), tried restarting the PC to no avail. Not sure if this is happening to anyone else or whether there is a way to resolve this issue. Here is a picture of when and how the game crashes upon examination.

I am only logged in on one character.

The only changes I have done is a graphics driver update a few weeks ago, but I have tried clean uninstalling the drivers, running the the game without it, letting the graphics card install its base drivers with the same results, and finally reinstalling the latest update with the same result. As for when it has started, I suppose as recent as Hydatos was released as no other gear has given me this error before. I have also reinstalled the entire game to see if the last patch may have been corrupt, but that wasn't the case either.

Does crash happen on Direct X 9 and have you tried running the game on it? Try switching to DirectX 9 by selecting the ‘Config’ button on the launcher (if you have not done so already). Please also try doing a cleanboot on the PC. Open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

I did try the Direct X 9 option in FFXIV and when that is enabled, the examined person's gear comes up as blank, I'm unable to view/tryon any of said gear (it comes up as greyed out, no icon, no description), and it 'sometimes' crashes if the examine window is left open long enough. I will have to try the Start Up tab tomorrow when friend is available/online to help with the examining of the gear.

Doing the task manager suggestion did not work, and it looks like some items on the market board is causing the crash as well, not just the Eureka Hydatos items. I believe I caught the name of one being the Drk weapon Shin ______.

On the system report, it shows multiple monitors. Have you tried disabling any of the monitors or changing the window size from full screen to borderless fullscreen or windowed mode?

Forgot to update on this issue. Despite reinstalling the game completely the first time, the latest patch must have corrupted itself only with the new gear it added in for Eureka. This is probably also the case in my original version of the game. Once I did a second full uninstall/reinstall, the issue was gone completely.
