This would permit the player to click a spot and move to it.

Yes, as a basic part of the user interface.
I dont mind click to move, but seems unnecesarry considering how easy moving your character is as is. I feel like click to move is just extra steps to do something I can already do by just holding one button down. (W,A,S or D or Controller stick)
I personally dont use WASD all the time on keyboard/mouse. (I often employ my autorun key and use the mouse buttons held down to "steer")

Unlock Blue Mage. Learn Loom. You can do that anywhere with no cooldown

Unhappy with how they implemented Mahjong? -> http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/381358-Mahjong-is-the-most-depressing-mini-game-you-ve-added-to-XIV

This reminds me of a few topics from people who are coming from mobas and just aren’t used to a WASD control scheme.
My suggestion: just get used to it. It’s not very likely this will e er change.

Ah, I saw your comment on a previous thread but I'm not a MOBA person. I've just been experimenting with various forms of input, especially since Scholar has so many buttons. Until very recently, I didn't use a mouse at all for this game, and just bound the entire party and system navigation to the keyboard. But I switched to Logitech's G600 because my keyboard is taking a lot of wear and it can't turn the camera very fast (this is a problem in Omega 12 Savage). Now I'm just thinking about how basic controls could be improved.
And WASD isn't nearly as good as ESDF ;P
or better yet, a tiny joystick. Got a keypad with one but might still glue an arduino project to the back of my mouse.
In general, anything that makes the game and input experience more fluid would help. Scholar would definitely benefit from it.

How would scholar benefit from this? Also would your character be doing a slow walk or a run? Are we to assume you'd be wanting this for during fights? If so then again why and also no if it went as slow as how it is with pets.
