Well I kinda just wanted to get all classes and jobs to 70; partly because OCD and partly because I was hoping I could make gil from having the professions levelled eventually. That depends on what youre asking. Are you asking if its worth spending money to level them faster? Or is the question whether leveling them at all is worth it? And ultimately, only you can answer these questions. I like being able to make things for myself and my friends. Im also fairly cheap. So being able to gather my own mats and make the things i want is 100% worth it to me. I chose not to spend gil on faster leveling, so it ultimately took me a little bit to get everything to cap. Someone whos goal is to make more gil would also want everything leveled eventually(whether markets are tight right now or not, eventually theyll loosen up and the gil will flow freely). A completionist would likely be bothered seeing 11 classes not leveled up. Back to the question of whether its worth it to try and speed up the process, that depends on what the goal ultimately is(and how much money you have to work with). If youre the completionist who just wants to do it so that its done, then the extra time doesnt matter at all. If youre trying to make money, then hitting a certain level by a certain point makes a ton of sense(for instance, being able to make furniture in time for the server transfer window when some houses should free up on most of the servers and therefore put some new buyers into the furniture market)... and at a minimum being leveled and ready to go for the expansion(the likely next BIG money window).
Actually, if you have CUL desynth, all the old swimsuit and waterproof cotton fish as well as ninja betas still pay off. Mostly higher prices than a year or two at that.
But now that snailfish have been rendered irrelevant is there any SB fish, other than for aetherial reduction, that pays?
Profitability of DoL/DoH classes really varies between servers.
On one that's saturated with bots like Cactuar, it's likely going to be impractical to try to make money off of anything that they're targeting (Which is basically all of the latest non-glam gear, food/infusions, and aethersands).
I've found it better to go after more niche items like glam instead.
nearly all ores and logs still sell well, no you wont get 5-10k a pop like sb launch but selling a stack of 99 for 100k is not bad considering it takes about 8mins or less to get a stack of anything with no buffs.
plus a lot of the timed nodes mats still carry a 2-3k price tag some even more than that so timed node gathering can get you a mil or more in an hr.
best thing though would be get mats that help people level, theres gonna be demand over the next few months as people stock up on cheap mats to power level crafters on xpac launch cus new mats will be too pricy first few days for most people. although it will be a great opportunity for gatherers.
strange awareness of ghosts that no longer haunt this shell.
