    Distance control for jump puzzles.

I've just learned about these, and enjoyed the ones in WoW. but here. jump distance seems to be essentially random. (PC) Press W, then Space, and the distance moved seems to be different each time. How do players complete these things when you don't know how far a jump is going to carry you? Or, is there some way to control it?
    (Googled it, found nothing.)

It depends on your character acceleration. If you gave your character enough time to reach full speed before you jump, you will do a long distance jump. But if you jumped as soon as you started moving, your character wouldn't have built enough speed to jump far so you end up with a small gap jump.

It just takes a little bit of practice and you'll get the hang of it real easy.

From my understanding there are four different jumping distances. Walking speed jump, A walking speed jump while Spring is active, a normal running speed jump and a running speed jump with Sprint active. I haven't tried on a keyboard but I find it easy having ease of access to walking and running with the analog stick.

    .:Edit:. I didn't think about character acceleration. That's a great point @Alucard135.

I can't speak for PC users. On controller the distance of your jump is determined by a couple of things, but it basically boils down to tapping or holding down a directional key on the D-pad for min/max distance. Whether you are on controller or PC many of the 'small gap' jumps (the ones a lot of players overshoot) can be taken care of by jumping max distance at an angle. Also pay attention to see if the platform protrudes from a wall. If it does, once again you can jump max distance towards the wall to prevent undershooting it. A lot of times, this also requires you jumping at an angle towards the wall from the furthest point of the platform you are jumping from.

Thanks all. I did some practicing in Kugane, using the dock planks as a gauge. I seemed to be getting quite a few distances, so I took 23 screen shots, sliced out the part of each with my character after the jump, deleted the duplicates, and assembled them all in order, with the starting position to the left:

EIGHT different jump lengths. The rightmost one is with a full running start, hitting Space as I crossed the starting line.

Yeah it's kind of awkward, what I started to do was if possible I would jump sideways if it's a relatively short jump to increase the distance to be covered instead of jumping straight ahead.

Other games like GW2 sort of allow you to control the momentum of your character somewhat while you are in the air so you can be more precise.

This may totally be psychological but I've found a few of the more finicky jumps for vistas to be more predictable when you set the framerate limit to the lowest possible setting in the options.

Yeah jump puzzles in this game and keyboard and mouse don't really mix well.

Ninja also will have slightly different jumps, as its innate movement speed is higher.

For me at least even on a PlayStation 4 it's not easy some jumps are symbol to figure out if you will man doing kugane Tower it's hard for me at least to get the right speed to be able to do the jump to Little Speed and you miss it too much and you overshoot. As well as aiming.
