PETITION: Regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV Steam Version (Mar. 8)

I would even PAY for the option to be free of Steam.

Hmmm- I can have a separate PC, PS4, and Mac client on the same character account. (Of course... paying to register each one....) Is that not possible with Steam? I legitimately don't know.

You cannot have a PC and Steam key on one service subscription aka character account. So if we want out by paying for a PC key et. al, we'd lose, for most, our main characters that we've spent too many hours on.

Otherwise, I don't think this would be such of a controversial move.

PS, I have bought the base game + Stormblood for PC once before only to have it refunded because there was no way for me to link it because I already had a Steam key. And support at the time told me there was no way to deactivate the Steam key in exchange.

At least warn us BEFORE opening the damn pre-orders... Now I already have pre-ordered on steam and have to consider pre-ordering on PC as well for extra $$$$$ is this just a cheap tactic? Cause that's how it feels honestly, the weeks+ advance is nice time to be able to redownload on steam etc but it's too little too late for wanting to swap platforms now that my steam edition of shadowbringers is already paid for...

Nope, you can't swap. You would have to rebuy everything and start completely from scratch.

I have briefly used Steam though in that small time that I have used it I didn't notice any droppings of the authentication servicer anything could have happened and I never noticed. Reading these posts is the dropping of the service really that bad?

it has the potential, that's why people are now raising the awareness and if it goes bad, we need assistance from SE (possible "conversion/migration" out of steam).
