Wasn't something akin to vampirism in one of the class quests already? You couldn't take part in it of course, but it was linked into the class. I suppose any ability where you heal from dealing damage could be seen as semi vampiric as well.

The antagonist of the red mage 50 to 60 story was basically a vampire. I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about.

To elaborate on why I feel MonsterVerse jobs should be relegated to minigames:
Take a look at SMN...then think about how would you feel if SE told you could only control/morph into 3 monsters. Forever.
"Forever?"
"Forever. Please look forward to it."
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

I understand what you're suggesting, a sort of preventive measure in design but I'd really not like to see that happen anyways. I'd rather have had a Blue Mage with limited spells than the Blue Mage we have right now. In Blue Mage's defense it was sort of a beta and it has room to grow, if they end up making it OP to the point that it doesn't need a group to solo for any spell and some more interactions and QoL is added to the job I might find it interesting even if I would be sad it's not a normal job. At the end of the day I'll always prefer it would be an Advanced job though, one that has both limited and normal components.
Counter point to that is WoW has had a small selection of transformations for Druid and Druid fans have gone on well enough. It's true that fans of a Chaos materia job (not using the word vampire because I think it's confusing people off the point of OP, who was refrencing specifically Vincent's ability to change), but I think people will always want more and it's not impossible for SE to design a few solid options like WoW has and call it a great start.
Obviously you have your combat forms, but SE could also design transportation forms (like WoW has a water, ground, and air, as well as visual upgrades of those said forms).
Anyway, I really hope SE doesn't think this way on the concept of transformation. I know you meant well so I'm not trying to be mean but if SE announces another neat concept into exclusively mini-game content I think my heart will just sink. I say exclusively because I have no problem with the idea that Morpher would become a mini game, and so the concept isn't exclusive. Morpher of course being that job that's a bit like Blue Mage but on a remix, taking the form of one monster at the time gaining more spells but less "snap" flexibility (can't cast two different groups of monsters spells at once).
As long as it isn't actually called "Vampire", XIV does not need the rebirth of the Twilight crowd.
It's not the first time a "vampire" has been pitched as a job concept, and almost positive it wouldn't be the last. The only real issue is that it would require the protagonist (the player's character) to find some way of committing unspeakable horrors without being seen as "evil", especially when Black Mage is already perceived to be right on the edge of that. As for transformation, I know for a fact that this wouldn't be the first idea to suggest it. I did it before making a concept of "Sorcerer", although to bring it to multiple roles would either mean changing itemization (which seems far too unlikely) or having to rubber-stamp it with the L-word as a job.
The closest thing I could forsee is a job using a transformation effect these days is as a cooldown ability, but likely nothing beyond that. Whether or not it's anything like a vampire, I doubt it unless it does a really good job changing our understanding of what a vampire is.

i think shogun is right lol, the name is tripping people up. i was just using that title as a reference to vincent. i dont think the class needs any blooddrinking powers or needs to be on the evil spectrum. just a class similar to summoner, but you transform into monsters instead of summoning them. like what vincent does. It's not the first time a "vampire" has been pitched as a job concept, and almost positive it wouldn't be the last. Will they spakle in the daylight?

Doesn't Dark Knight have a thing where they can heal themselves by dealing damage?
*Swaps to Dark Knight and checks hotbar tooltips*
Yes, yes they do.
The whole concept of healing yourself by hitting the other guy is at least semi-vampiric in nature, though it's using DARKNESS! to simulate the effect rather than being an actual vampire.
Work from that angle, use the idea behind the Dark Knight and apply it to ranged weapon user, watch the DARKNESS! powered guns wreck folks.
Same power source, drastically different playstyle.
Does this work? Or are the problems with the idea that i'm not seeing?
