Actually it could help them in cases when they happen to get additional free time due to a holiday, vacation, etc and actually have a larger amount of time in a short window to play the game essentially to catch up. However with the current system their tome progress ends in just an hour or 2.

It would still only help if somehow they were uncapped while everyone else still was. Because the "players with lots of time" would be making that sort of progress every week, not just on rare occasions.
