What I believe you might be able to do out of this is easily add cost to the Summoner glamour system such that fancy egi glamour require a lot of work like completing objectives on other classes (level 80 Paladin = Alexander Egi/Demi).
I would however say two things on that. The first is that many summoner mains who have no interest in other jobs would find that design concept exceptionally frustrating and the second is I think you could design more compelling and related to the job itself content without doing the above.
Obviously just because I added cons to my own idea doesn't mean I think that's the only option but I do think that Summoner should be the focus of ANY standard (Levi, Ramuh, etc) primal/summon focuses in this game when on the topic of the player behalf. At least at this time. If Summoner already had a bunch of epic summons I'd probably not mind but as they don't I would find this.. just really annoying I guess.
Summoner: Please give me more epic summons like you might see in other MMOs, even your own game FFXI.
SE: Okay I'll give everyone a new summon but you.
That's nearly rage quit inducing lol.
Maybe I would suggest not using summons one might think of normally instead. I mean you might have meant that already but just to be clear Leviathan becoming White Mage's primal for example is a big no to me, that goes to Summoner the job. However, if each job had a patron deity like Black Mage might have Rhalgr then I think it would be okay as that's not really what one would think of as a standard primal.
In fact I'd suggest changing the thread concept to the point of "What if every job had a specific deity" instead then. Obviously I'm not saying you need to, just that I'd be in favor of a thread like that while I'm very cautious of a thread on primals to things other than summoner. Maybe some jobs share a deity, and new ones could be added when we move to other lands but these gods of Men sort of thing (perhaps primals, perhaps they're not).
Could add a sort of unique deity system to the game, having quests and pilgrimages and rewards to fostering the god's will. Sort of a marriage of delivery and beast tribe mechanics. Some of the big tier rewards being able to call down gifts from the god's, like single player limit breaks.

Warrior - Ravana
Simple. Face to face combatants that value strength (Both physical and strength of will)
Paladin - Alexander
I tend to view Alex as a protector. A literal walking fortress. Even in XIV he's protecting the realm by [Spoilers]
Monk - Sephirot or Tsukuyomi
The former because I recall being punched in the face a bunch by him...
The latter because there's that balance of light and dark thing which works with the two sects of the Brotherhood and the different Chakras.
Dragoon - Bahamut
The DRAGON SLAYER job and the "King of Dragons" uhh... Right? Technically you could also say Nidhogg but whatever, Bahamut > All.
Bard - Susano or Suzaku
Lord of the Revel is fitting for BRD, whom when they're not bolstering their allies in battle are putting on a performance.
White Mage - Lakshmi
Not evil corrupted Lakshmi, but the real one, the benevolent goddess that sheltered her followers from harm.
Black Mage - Ifrit
Make everything = fire.
Summoner - Ultima Weapon?
I guess? As it's powered by multiple primals?
Scholar - Titania
Because Pixies are almost Faries right?
Ninja - Leviathan
Leviathan lives in the dark depths of the ocean, keeping out of sight. Much like a Ninja. When faced with a threat, he uses the water to attack from multiple angles. Much like a Ninja.
Dork Knight - Odin
Fell Knight clad in all black makes some sense for DRK.
Astrologian - Kinko
I mean, it makes sense right? Given how she reacted when you [Spoilers] during the [Spoilers]
Machinist - Omega?
Does the ultimate in combat technology count as a "Summon"?
Samurai - Shinryu?
I dunno... Maybe just because we see Shinryu summoned to right an injustice kind of like during the job quests when you [Spoilers]
Red Mage - Sophia
Sophia likes balance and equilibrium. So does Red Mage like to balance White and Black.
Blue Mage - Enkidu
Because, like BLU, the incarnation here is a joke.

Is the idea limited to XIV summons? There are several that haven't appeared outside of other games that would probably gel well with XIV's jobs. Hecatoncheir hasn't appeared as a summon outside of 13, but considering what his inscription is, he'd fit monks extremely well.
By the grace of Etro, arise great and mighty giant. Come forth, thee who shoulders the sky.
A name in blood, a pact of strength. Hecatoncheir shall rise, his bond eternal and unyielding.
Hands that purge impurity. Arms that harbor strength.

I wonder if this could be done as a kind of glamour for LB?

No more pet jobs please... SE hasn't even gotten the ones we have right yet.

Sort of purposely going out of my way to think of summons that other people won't initially associate with jobs.
PLD - Gilgamesh, because sometimes PLD is OP and sometimes it's a mess. Or Alexander (a living holy bastion?)
WAR - Kujata (paying homage to WAR job takes place and your first antagonist - a giant, murderous bull)
DRK - Ragnarok
WHM - Asura
AST - Kirin
MNK - Moomba
DRG - Quetzalli
NIN - Tonberry or Crusader (since the gestures for mudras make up of 3 parts, having a summon also made of 3 I think is fitting)
SAM - Yojimbo
BRD - Mini Mog
MCH - Hecatoncheir
BLM - Magnus Sisters or Valigarmanda
RDM - Cerberus (extremely useful GF in VIII if you used dualcasting)
Because I don't care if they are "off the table." :P This is all for fun anyway.
SCH - Carbuncle or Zona Seeker
SMN - Hades

To everyone who is confused, yes it's a fun game. This is not meant to be a real thing I want.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
