It looks great, but to be honest I prefer something small and simple. The launcher updates the game and lets me login, I don't want to spend more time than that with it.

Cool, good job
Needs "Remember Password" and "Show Password" (so it shows what you're typing and not the stupid dots) options.
also kind of off the topic, I wish the title screen said which Data Center you are currently on.
I don't like it for one important reason for me:
With all the products that cost real money being right there on the front page, I feel like I'm looking at a freemium, P2W Chinese or Korean MMO. Even if it's just showing the current news feed, with what's being posted (like now, it's pushing pre-ordering for items since expansion is coming up), it makes it feel extremely cheapening. It otherwise reminds me of the ArcLauncher used by the super money-hungry MMO publisher Perfect World (being able to check your character/profile from the launcher + game news). I can't say I'm enthused seeing a game I enjoy drawing parallels with another company I pretty much despise.
EDIT: Just to be clear, I have no issues with the design itself, just the horrible luck of what is currently being featured on the news page negatively impacting how it overalls looks to me. The design is modern, clean and stylized in an appealing way otherwise.
I've got you with the music when logging in. . . : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZkVv4pJqNc
I like the presentation it's nice. While it's true you spend little time with the launcher ideally I find it very "old" feeling. I'd like to see the "ads" turn into some sort of expanding panel or something though so it can be less the main detail unless I want it to be. Somehow bringing more focus to game content over the outside the game content (like cash shop/etc), but it looks nice in shapes and colors. Not suggesting that they can't show off new stuff that isn't native in the game, just hope native in the game content takes priority.
Besides looking spiffy it would probably be a great idea to add new QoL and make more obvious the QoL features. Like apparently it does remember a portion of where it left off before, in chunks, but it just doesn't look like it unless you were counting the amount of mb/gb left.
Edit: the amount of space the patch takes and the time remaining... It's getting to me lol. (3099mb left, the image says it'll take 10minutes at 50mb/s).

It looks nice, but personally I'm happy with the current launcher. It's quick to load, shows the latest news, updates the game and starts the game...
A file checker would be nice, but that could still go inside the current launcher. We don't really need anything flashy, it does the job as-is and has done for the last 6 years. Anything more complicated is bound to bring additional issues.
PS4 doesn't log in through the web browser. It launches as its own program, and only opens the PS4 web browser if you try to follow any of the news links instead of logging in.
I really like the design. Its fresh and full of utility, which I really like.
Well done![]()
It still requires the internet browser to connect and if PS network is down you have no chance of getting in at all. The login page is based on the browser and the settings effect whether it works or not, it isn't a completely independent launcher.
i like this concept design it has a more ffxiv feel to it, the current launcher, feels like something from 2005, it works, but that's about it, looking at wow and the epic store ui i find those more pleasing design wise.
i do wonder if SE will update it some time in the future, the current UI on the ps4 feels a tad unoptimised.
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun
I'll be the voice of a different, negative opinion and say pass. Maybe a mobile version of this though, given how much the app sucks.
