What does everyone do for inventory space mainly with weapons/armor?
I think I need to decide what classes I want to play and get rid of crap. Even my 2 retainers are almost full. But they are mainly holding ilvl50 gear for classes I dont play.

Gear is super easy to get in this game, I wouldn't keep anything you don't intend to use soon. I'm assuming this is stuff you got from MSQ? You can get that stuff with allied seals, and you can even get ironworks stuff, which is better, with poetics. And you'll be swimming in poetics once you level past 50.
Tbh between mats and gear i am using im in the same postion without useless junk lol
Your armoury should be enough to hold a set of gear for each battle class.
The times when gatherers and crafters have unique sets is when inventory really blows.

Would be nice if the Armoury could increase to 45 slots!
When it comes to armory I use the 'closet rule', if that is such a thing for hoarders. But basically one item in, two items out. Take a look at your armory and evaluate which items are the easiest to acquire and get rid of those first. If you're already on greens and blues then the next step is getting rid of the ones you like the least.
Other alternatives that might help is purchasing another retainer, and you can also put marketable items up for sale at ridiculous prices so they do not sale. It would be really cool if SE did something with the GC barracks that allowed storage of weapons and armor. I am totally cool with having to visit my GC for such purposes because I honestly don't see them increasing the glamour dresser from 200 anytime soon.
I'm always hesitant to throw out dungeon gear if there's any chance I'll use it, because RNG can make it a pain to get back.
Something you can do to free up space is temporarily hire a retainer - they keep your items permanently even when you're not actively paying for access to them. So subscribe to hire one, get charged for that one month*, and immediately turn off that subscription again. Dump your "low-priority" items in their inventory, make use of them while you have them, and then leave them to long-term store those items. Re-hire then for further dumping or retrieval as required.
* assuming your subscription is month-to-month. From memory hiring a retainer automatically charges you to the end of your current subscription period, so be careful if you have a six-month subscription or something.
I personally just leveled classes.
So instead of sitting with like 5 different sets of gear for differently leveled classes of the same type, I now just need 1 set per job.
Which leaves enough room for everything to fit into by Armoury. Though, weapons and rings become a bit of a squeeze due to me also carrying a couple of Relics and well rings are just awful (Fending, Aiming, Slaying, Casting, Healing, Gathering, Crafting... That's 14 rings right there. +2 for every other level you have sitting around...)
Otherwise I just get rid of most stuff.
With levels 50, 60 and 70 all giving a set of gear for (Most) classes, as well as the ease of purchasing a few sets between those levels from vendors, I don't really hoard any gear and when I do, it's just vendor bought stuff that I'm using to level up a particular role of class at the time.
For example, I recently finished leveling up all the Magical DPS classes, so I had level 50-68 gear stored away for SMN/RDM/BLM and focused on leveling them up and after finishing getting the last class up to 70 I could then get rid of the gear as I outleveled it.
Yes, but RNG is pointless for 50/60/70 gear, because you can buy whatever you want with easy-to-acquire seals and tomes.I'm always hesitant to throw out dungeon gear if there's any chance I'll use it, because RNG can make it a pain to get back.
