i completely agree, i've been waiting for smn since the game came out and its sickening to think that se can ruin what made smn a classic and big part of the ff games. they have always summoned the classic aeons like titan, ifrit, shiva. why would they ruin that now. i dont care if smn's will be able to summon some little thing that i dont care about, its not the same without the classics. and to think that some dragoon or some warrior will be able to summon ifrit while im in the background playing with my fire elemental or whatever they have me summon, is just stupid.
i dont care if its on a crazy grand scale, in ffxi it made sense that you were summoning just a part of it and not the actual thing. bring that back! at least it will feel like a ff game for a SUMMONER to summon an aeon.
i thought we were moving away from this "everyone will be able to do everything" kind of gameplay when speciallized jobs came out but i guess not.
if se is gonna crush classic summoner lovers then at least give us some good news and not just drop bombs on us everywhere. all i ever here is summoner wont be able to do this, or that

Primals are the classic godlike summons in FFXIV (Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, etc etc). Lets keep them godlike powerful ya? I don't want them to be nerf down and see like 20 Ifrits on the screen. lol

and ffxi had you just summon a fraction of the gods power, are you gonna tell me that doesnt make sense and that the actual avatars were nerfed? no, there was still a prime fight and you just summoned a small part of them as a summoner.
besides does anyone question how theres an easy ifrit fight right now? isnt that a nerfed version of ifrit?
i think the real issue is having multiple summons on screen, which doesnt bother me at all.
i would rather summon titan then summon carbuncle.
carbuncles not bad but how could every summoner fan not want the classics and be happy with just carbuncle.

C'mon now get serious. I can solo those prime fights in FFXI. Summoner can even solo it at Lv20.
FYI: The Easy version of Ifrit can still kill Lv50s with Hell Fire.

excuse my rage in the recent posts but ive been waiting for summoner since day 1 and i cant see what to look forward too if my favorite job is gonna be crap.
the real issue with me isnt even that a summoner cant summon a primal because i can understand its a god.
the issue is that anyone regardless of job will be able to summon one because they have a card??

but if a war, lnc, arc, and gld can just summon a primal because they have a card, thats stupid and i feel like it belittles the summoner job
its like "oh yeah? you learned how to summon creatures with magic and practiced that as your job? well i can summon something better then you ever could and and all i ever learned how to do is swing a sword"

I understand your sentiments.. but even without primals.. maybe Summoner will still have epicness....
Bahamut could be a summon and not a Primal...
Carbuncle might not do damage but could be instrumental in some of the fights down the line

i agree it could still be cool, but the lack of information on the summoner job is upsetting.
as of now all we really know is what it cant do and theres no reassuring information
if this is not clear enough i would like to request some information on the summoner job from the devs

Would you be ok with Summoner having Ifrit knowing it would be a small piece of his power and you couldn't have some huge over the top summoning animation because MMO's work in real time?

i would greatly prefer having a fraction of the primals power to summon as a summoner then for jobs with no summoning power to summon a primal. either way i wasnt expecting the animation because it would slow down gameplay and most people would skip it anyway i would imagine.
and i am familiar with the real time rendering and the limitations of in game mechanics since i just got my degree in game development
actually now that i think about it, i would even be ok with a smaller shadowy version of ifrit to summon or something like that, while the free company can summon the real one
