Why is everyone AFK in Hydatos?

Hello. I am trying to lvl up in Hydatos but most of the time nobody is doing anything. People are nowhere to be found and almost everyone i see is either afk at the base camp or doing the bunny fate. Only sometimes there's a fate spawning group. Today i spend 2 hours without a single fate. I tried asking for fate spawning or fate train but either nobody replies or people say jokes. This has happened consistently over many days now.

Am i missing something?

Most everyone there is quite literally waiting for someone else to do it for them (spawn NM's). It's that or they're waiting fer Ovni so they can get into BA.

That's too bad. Is there a way to make people go out and spawn NMs? Perhaps a stacking bonus to rewards from the respective FATE from each monster kill? I'll head back to previous zones to farm other weapons until this is fixed then, i really don't feel like doing all the work while everyone just AFKs and leeches off.

there is no incentive to "make" people do anything really in Hydatos (or any Eureka zone for that matter). It's all a matter of personal effort and state of mind. Some people like to be proactive and productive, others just want to leech off of other people's efforts. With the way instances and work and the ability to hop/fish for instances there's really no way to accurately give any kind of stacking bonus.

Hydatos was somewhat badly designed.

You can spawn every west side NM solo in less time than it takes multiple groups to spawn anything on the east side.


I've zoned into instances and spawned All of west + Daphne solo and goldemar at night with a bored extra person (so much faster doing that with a friend...), and the 4 groups at PW and 3 groups doing "Ceto/Barong/Leuke" prep managed to spawn... nothing.

Hydatos is easy to AFK in, because the nm's that actually need effort to spawn need a LOT of effort to spawn.

That is unfortunately true, esp. spawning Nidhogg, eh. I mean Providence Watcher, takes a very long time. I've only ever seen him once (and then I was 59, so no drop). Makes updating you weapon very annoying. I hope this changes when more people reach Hydatos.

I just see it as a visual representation of how the hunt system works outside of Eureka, but you have shout chat instead of hunt LSs

It's not just about leeching, it's efficiency.

If you want the Hydatos mount, it's by far better to afk at bunnies for it while doing Fates that pop for your relic. I completed 3 relics in this way before I finally got the mount on my 5th gold chest.

If I spawned Fates and grinded Claws/Ceto instead, after I finished all my relics I'd then have to go back and spend an additional month or so in Eureka, sitting afk at bunnies, which would be incredibly boring.

And it's not like my lack of presense is a huge loss. A single 8 man group can pop the entire West side in no time (and usually do). You get an Ovni early on, maybe a Support Fate in a bit, then you instance hop and repeat. The east side just isn't worth the effort. It's poor design, it encourages you to afk.

Is that why bunny is so popular in pyros and hydatos, because they added mount to them? I think it would be more efficient to just do any non rng thing for gil and then buy the mount in less than the average amount of days it takes to be blessed by bunny luck.

I can't really blame people if that's what they prefer to do though. They have a different goal which happens to be detrimental to people who want crystal farm efficiency. There's a conflict of bunny and NMs and BA sharing the same instance which a finite amount of people can enter. At least BA kicks back some crystals to outsiders via the support fate, but bunny just draws people away from mob farm.

The east side NMs probably wouldn't take long to spawn in theory, if you had a utopia scenario of people working together to ensure highest rewards for the group instead of individual thinking. If you could direct those 144 characters around like a single player strategy sim and get the best logical distribution in each part of the map then you'd always see every NM pop. Every character actually trying to do good dps and using logos, I don't think farming a couple hundred of each high lv mob would be a big task.
