Design Challenge: 10 Themes

Set up a personal glamour design challenge, figure it might be fun to extend an invitation for any other masochist who wants to attempt it.

Premise is pretty straightforward. There are ten themes, you build your character’s glamour around those themes. A complete, official set (ex. all nomad gear) is cheating. Pictures should be full body so that hats and shoes can both be seen.

The themes are…

Default: Standard look.

War: A military outfit, something for the thick of battles between nations.

Casual: What your character wears during their downtime.

Fanservice: Sexy outfit. EDIT: If you are uncomfortable with fanservice or think it would be out-of-character, feel free to substitute with formal wear!

Ul’dah: For the deserts of Thanalan.

Gridania: For the forests of the Black Shroud.

Limsa Lominsa: For the seas of La Noscea.

Ishgard: For the frozen landscape of Coerthas.

Ala Mhigo: For the deserts of Gyr Abania.

Far East: For the various nations of Othard. This might mean the Azim Steppe, Hingashi, the Ruby Sea, or Doma.

This was an actual challenge in the sense that it took a while and got tricky at times. Tried to avoid repeating pieces for the most part. Also, no one has to do what I did posting everything at once lol. If you want to try I figure as long as the thing is labeled one at a time is fine.

It's fun to put some creativity for glams, but here are my 2 "buts" for the post:

1. The Gridanian glam has nothing to do with Gridania, you're using a Sharlayan coat and... The Bonewicca helm?

2. And also for such a long post, it would be easy for the eyes to put the pictures in a spoiler box.

Aside from that, the idea is cool.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you dig the idea! First thing--my html skills are lacking in this moment lol. Would you mind explaining how to set up the spoiler bit? I know normally it's a word in brackets to open followed by a / before the word to close the format for lodestone, but don't know what the word is or whether it's upper or lower case.

On the Gridania design I'm happy to explain my take on it! First, I'll be totally transparent in admitting I struggled with this one for a long while. Most Gridanians are woodwailers, Kane-E-Senna, or in kurtas/vests/etc. I've seen a lot of people interpret stuff in a more flowery way, and I did try that a bit, but it tonally jarred with my guy.

The second thing, technically coat is scholasticate haha. Ishgard clothes though so your point still stands. I wound up going in this direction because I was thinking about the overall themes and aesthetics I go for with for this character. I am going Black Mage with ties to death, decay, all of that full throttle here. Bonewicca mask is specifically because I decided instead of focusing so much on plants it might be more effective to draw from animals. Bonewicca mask reminds me of a gazelle or goat skull a bit, which to me has always carried a kind of occult spooky-woods vibe. Pairing that with something more formal I figured would help do a nature/civilization contrast that feels in keeping with Gridania to me. Basically, I wound up putting aesthetic over the official label lol. If someone tried to do an Ul'dahn character featuring some Thavnair gear I'd probably consider that fair game as long as they could overall visually distinguish from actual Thavnair and Ala Mhigo.

Also "vibe" is pretty subjective and all, but I figure encouraging a wide range of interpretations where the main goal is visually evoking a tone while keeping character aesthetic will be more fun. More variety in results, you know?

Calling veto on the "fanservice" one though. Does not compute for me. How about... formal wear?

Also, at risk of piling on the complaints this early in the thread.... if you're posting these screenshots specifically to show off your glamours, the heavy blue filter makes it quite hard to actually see and appreciate them.

Also, I can try and adjust those shots. Sorry if this is a pain but would you mind pointing at which ones could use clarification? My guess is War, Limsa Lominsa, and maybe Ishgard but want to make sure. I don't mind crit so if any pics need improvement feel free to say!

XD Straight up I have to do phone pics in front of a tv because I'm console and don't have an account to send gpose pics to. Some of the issue is attempting to navigate that. The struggle of having a passion for glamour but technical difficulties haha.

Oh~~~ That explains the colour.

And you don't need an account at all. I'm on PS4 as well. Just use the PS Share button (set it up for "easy screenshots") and then it saves all your screenshots to the console. Then you just need to connect a USB and copy the files to transfer them to your computer. Should be under Settings - Storage - Screenshots or something like that.

EDIT: Also Iscah—sorry I somehow missed part of your reply before but yeah previously made screenshots are totally fine! Would love to see! And lol I don’t mind formal wear as an option. Figure fanservice if the person is comfortable or it would be in-character, formal wear if not. Out atm but when I get home can edit that no problem.

Update, pics under the cut have been edited thanks to the expert advice of Iscah. Should have better quality all around. Also, put in formal wear as an option for people who don't feel comfortable with fanservice!
