Why not make it an opt-in feature. Just like if someone wants to donate, they can.

Probably make it at a reduced rate though, so you aren't necessarily able to get your money back. I'd imagine then an FC lead would basically free teleports otherwise.

Ooo, I'll be the first to post this!

They had a feature similar in Warcraft, where player actions resulted in currency being added to the guild chest. What happened was a lot of "mass invite" guilds popped up. People figured that if they just invited 1,000 people--they could passively make lots of money by doing nothing but invite random people.

I would imagine a similar situation would happen in FFXIV if all teleport fees to the FC house went to the FC chest/leader. Someone would just set up a great house. And then spam newbies and let ambitious officers carry the workload while the leader pockets all of the money.

    --------------

Conversely, a feature that would let FC members withdraw FC gil to pay for teleport would be a great feature. Similar to Warcraft's 'guild paid repair system'. Of course then people would ditch guilds that didn't pay for their repairs, and call them cheap. Regardless if the social quality is good or not.

In concept I like it, but teleportation is a mechanic designed to be a gil sink deliberately and to help mitigate inflation in the game economy. Furthermore housing teleports are already reduced cost much like the gold saucer.

I remember reading from a lore perspective that the fee goes to the maintenance that the cities and locations pay for the upkeep of the aetheryte. Considering the guild aether is a mini, one could believe that there is a larger aetheryte in the area that allows the mini aetheryte to function. Much like the aethernet in city states. That said i'm not sure if this flimsy lore explanation helps, but I figured I would provide it anyway.

You dont own the aether-ent that you're using to teleport through. The mini-aetheryte that you place in your garden works like a bus-stop, so to speak. Even when using that you dont own the aether-net that you are teleporting through (lorewise speaking). You dont pay the fee to use an aetheryte, but the net.

Teleport-costs to any residence are lowered by 75% - teleporting to the house in Shirogane will never be more than 249 gil, something even a new player should be able to afford if they dont spend all their day ping-ponging between the house and Eorzea. Return can be used free of charge every 30 minutes, in case you're worried about them finding their way back. (A good FC could also help out the new person by just giving them a certain amount of money for their teleports - 50k is nothing to someone whos level 70, but is enough for 200 teleports to the house.)
Teleporting between certain locations in Eorzea alone can be more expensive than a teleport to Shirogane.

Teleporting fees are absolutly needed as a gil-sink. Inflation is bad enough as it is thanks to lack of said gil sinks. Repairs and teleports are the only two we really have (considering how unavailable housing is... could have been a nice way to remove gil, yet it wasnt) and they need to stay.

If you want make Gil for FC I still think the best way is organize FC run of maps, master loot, and sell it all.
