While I sympathize for those that’d want to name their kitten or pup after a long lost beloved family pet, I think the majority would use or rather abuse this in some way. From my experience with named pets in other games, it’s usually so cringeworthy. As it stands, the minions now serve both as a form of personalization as well as an instant answer to the inevitable “what minion is that” questions you’d get if their actual name wasn’t present. Also, some minions we obtain aren’t just generic “puppy” or “kitten”, they’re canonically a singular creature or poppet, Alpha is just an example but there are so many more. I know I’d enjoy naming a minion here and there but I’d be willing to pass on that oppertunty if it meant not seeing what others named theirs. Of course we can simply disable other people’s minion names from appearing so it’s aught for naught I suppose.
