Valentoine's Day 2023 Quest to Gear implication [Quest Spoilers]

I apologize if this is not the right area for this thread.

I find it weird that despite the entire quest's storyline being "wearing what you love is an important and necessary part of self-love," the gear is gender locked. You COULD argue that this is because they simply didn't want to put more effort into Hrothgar's clothing than any of the other races, but considering the Hrothgar have been able to wear dresses in the past, I don't understand how they didn't have the techniques for this time.

That's not to say I don't understand how much work the dev teams usually have to undergo for events and the like, it's just an extremely funny disconnect between the quest and the items you can get from the event.

these sets are actually made for all genders
but because the set was broken on male Roe and wasnt fixed in time for the patch its gender locked for now.

Still, it feels very "hipocritical" when you see the characters being like "oh, you should wear whatever you feel more comfortable with" and then you only get one set and it's gender locked. :P


If there was a time where it was very important to not have a gender-lock in the gendered outfits, it was on this quest. Very unfortunate indeed.



Also, why Astrid is always wearing that tuxedo set? Aren't there several Valentione-based sets by now? Couldn't she wear the male-version of the current one either? Can't she at least get a proper body mesh that makes it so she stops looking like a lalafell head on top of a roegadyn's body? Like, maybe something like Alisaie's body mesh since short or teenaged Elezens are so featured in the game? Every time I see her, it's immersion breaking.

This. I was so excited about this quest as I figured it out, then they dropped a gender specific reward that just kind of spat directly in the face of the quest.

It was actually insulting.

The quest built up all that expectation "you should wear whatever you feel comfortable with!" and I was so eager to receive two set of the outfits and be able to choose whatever I like. And the moment I open the coffer I was oh so disappointed...

Please have some ways for us to access both outfits QAQ I really wanted the male tuxedo for my female toon.

Both outfits were available for purchase in front of the amphitheater from the vendor, if you didn't get it from the coffer.
I'm sure they'll unlock it in the next patch.

I wouldn't be certain that it will be unlocked next patch but I think it will be unlocked at some point this expansion. We did get the unlock on the 2020 sets in 6.3 as they play catch up on other genderlocked gear pretty quickly.

I've gotten in the habit of getting both sets from seasonal events when there is a gender lock just to be safe.
