Yup. Some people are more private, others just don't feel the need or think to be that open about it. Just depends on you and your SO.

@Lacan of course you still are if both (or more, Eh? ) parties agreed to it lol. For RP context it might help to put it there but it seems rather unnecessary otherwise especially for this game. I suppose if you had a facebook and for the previous relationships the other person always updated their status but didn't for you that might be a little weird but FFXIV doesn't have that and so I think an announcement is more weird than none.

Also as an aside I didn't know people did this, now I'm thinking about putting in Kupo Nuts or Gysahl Greens or something just for fun XD.

No and I don't care that he doesn't. I feel secure enough in my relationship to not need him to do that. I didn't even put the reference to him in my own comment until shortly before christmas and we have been together for over two years.
