Is the OP being serious or this just a "haha kidding" thread![]()

It's serious, because it's seriously stupid. It's just another eyeroll moment because it tells me that even if I don't care about this item (just not my char's style), they're going to keep doing this crap with other items, and probably ones I want.

Haha I figured a reply like this would come up. :P
If it helps, in this situation I really think it's a combination of the principle of the thing and people being weirded out/indignant that SE went to the extra trouble to make separate (but unequal) flower crowns. It's a tiny item and it looks like they went the extra mile to make sure male and female players wouldn't get the same glamour opportunities. The fact that flower crowns are hardly the pinnacle of manliness in the first place makes it even weirder and more petty looking on their end.
Personally, I don't mind if male and female characters don't have the exact same glamour or hair options everywhere. I've played games where character customization is a focus but you can't put women in pretty dresses. Bummed me out. But to do less features and worse dye capability for the lady version? Just seems unnecessary.
If someone came in being like #boycottSE over this it would be dumb, but people being :/ seems fair imo.
I wanted to say I'm disappointed in the item. I agree the male crown a better item, it's just so much more versatile. With the undyeable pink flowers, the item is incredibly limited in what it can be used with. I don't even mind the lack of leaves to be honest, I just wanted to say this item is very pretty and I like it very much, but will probably never use it because of half of it is stuck being pink for female models. Please give female models access to the male crown!

That’s odd... why would they do that?

finally, cosmetics that look better on guys than on girls
get rekt ladies

So, after a good deal of playing around with glamours, I have to say the guys definitely won this round of the glamour game. It's just more enjoyable to work with - starting from the question "what thematically goes with a flower crown?" rather than "what looks good once I've dyed it pink?"
The definite winner is my Elezen who now has a(nother) new WHM outfit... double winner because I'd caved in and bought Aymeric's hairstyle for him last week, which didn't look quite right on its own, but goes really well with the crown - it covers up the part at the back which is a bit oddly shaped.
Interestingly, I don't think it looks feminine. It's not exactly "manly" and it wouldn't look right with the same range of outfits that female characters could probably wear it with, but it works for this. It's a nice way of getting more colour into the costume without needing to wear a hat, and a metal circlet wouldn't suit the overall style.
I used Rust Red dye for the flowers.

Also, I have finally managed to make my Roegadyn girl look cute... though I don't know if I'd actually use the outfit much. Certainly not in battle.
I also had to change her hairstyle so it would fit better, not because of clipping but the opposite - it was too large for her normal style (the side-ponytail) and was floating off her head somewhat. Though having gone though all the different options looking for something better, even though it's shaped as if it's sitting over long hair, it actually tends to clip into the back part of longer styles.
(Was going to get Sailor Brais for the pants but she is all out of gil. ALL OUT. 340 gil left in bank account after buying too many glamours and not running enough roulettes. @_@)
On a totally random note, I've realised that the neck-bow on the ruffled dress has "DRESSUP" written on it in Eorzean letters.
I started putting together a costume for Aurelie as well, but.... meh. Too much pink and not enough enthusiasm. Also I feel like we've already got all those other flower-hairpins in the game already, and with more (if still frustratingly limited in a different way) choice of colour. And they come in neutral white/black versions.
What really disapointed me wasn't the difference of shape between the crowns but the way they dyes. The male crown get beautiful colors on all flowers while the female one get dull washed out colors on half the flowers. I wanted a dalamud red flower crown but the flowers are a dull grayish pink instead of red.The male version does have those "washed out" colours on half the flowers, while the others dye to the "true" dye colour. (In both cases the other shade gets used as a contrast streak towards the centres of the petals - you can see in the screenshots of my Elezen character above.)
For the female version, the "true colour" flowers are the fixed pink ones, so only the pale colours appear on the dyeable flowers.
It's definitely more limiting in terms of what dyes you can use on it, on top of the initial limitation of what colours go with the pink.
On the other hand, if you want "white daisies" instead of trying to co-ordinate colours, then it's quite nice to be able to give them a subtle colour instead of just white. (Cheaper, too!) I used Bone White dye on mine.
I tested it. Can definitely trade in a "Lord's Yukata (Blue)" that I purchased from Mog Station. (Though oddly, it trades for a red Lady's Yukata, while the green Lord's Yukata trades for blue!)

I like the male one better. I wish they'd just make them the same.
It's foreshadow for the gender locked races! (Bad joke, I know)
Seriously though, It's a weird choice, specially considering the event is meant for girls.
