Gendered flower crowns? Really?

I've been aching for a flower crown glamour item for ages--ever since they started releasing the corsage items, pretty much--and we finally get one for Little Ladies' Day that's even dyeable! I'm so excited! First thing I do once I log on for the day is grab the event, and then because I'm a certified alt goblin I start going down my list of characters and clearing the event for everyone

And that's when I noticed that the flower crown is gendered




So girls get a ring of flowers with no leaves, no accents, and the pink flowers don't even dye. Boys get flowers and leaves, making a fuller crown that's much nicer to look at, with accent roses AND their version takes to dye better--the white flowers (white instead of pink for girls) pick up shades of whatever dye you're using (picture is a metallic orange preview)

Really? Really? The flower crown needed to be gendered? I understand this will look like a dumb thing to be mad about, but I'm severely disappointed. Why SE, why.

Neither are really my cup of tea but...I don't really see the point in doing this. That makes no sense.

The leaves make the crown more manly, kinda like a laurel crown. :v Don't want guys to feel insecure about wearing it you know.

I'm seriously baffled. while I think gender locking anything should not be a thing, I can at least understand their reasoning when it's specific characters' outfits. I don't agree with the reasoning, but I can understand it.

I don't even get why this isn't just a case of it looking different between the two genders? The ao dai changes depending on which gender is wearing it, one has a bird and the other flowers. I still think that's stupid but at least makes more sense than two separate versions.

I think it might have more to do with the symbolism of the crowns. Princess and Senechal. Kind of like how crowns for royalty in real life look different. The king's crown would look different than the queen's. So I think this is more to denote one is for the Princess and the other is the Senechal. But that's just me.

That still doesn't explain why the girl version doesn't dye as nicely
I could honestly accept the lack of accent plants if the pink flowers picked up dye at all

Now this I agree with. I was disappointed with how it dyed. I'm not sure why they chose that. I was actually hoping for smaller flowers overall. Maybe if we sacrifice enough lalas SE will sneak in a quick hotfix so it dyes better.

My personal feeling is that they look too similar to be thought of as symbolically different. if they wanted to make a point of that, they should have looked like two actual different sets of flowers, perhaps one with more greenery, and those should both be gender unlocked so that people could pick which one better represents them.

Tbh half the reason I made this thread was to hopefully get someone at SE's attention, but lala sacrifice works too
