So which world(server) is the worst?

I ask this because I have heard horror stories surrounding Mateus server, and those horror stories make the Balmung horror stories look like child's play... I'm on Diabolos and I did make a new character on Balmung when the flood gets were re-opened before closing once more, and so far seems like a normal Role Play server(I started in Ul'dah btw)...

I've had an alt on Mateus for 3 years almost, so from when it was just a small server on Aether to now that it's basically Balmung 2.0, but in all honesty, I haven't seen all that horror. There is RP at the quicksand, sometimes you get caught in it around cities, but either than that, I haven't really seen anything 'horrible'.

Then again, with WAVES of people that came over, it is inevitable that rotten apples have appeared as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were some spread around. Maybe I have been lucky?

In my case, a lot of EU players say that Louisoix (Chaos DC) is one of the worst servers and feel glad that they moved away from there. I am on Louisoix since the Server was opened and never ever had a nightmarish experience like those players reported. And I am online daily, even run my stuff with randoms - all the time. In terms of hardcore players, that might be true that you probably won't be served well here, but it is still not by far as bad as everyone says.

Same with the following claim: "Chaos will be the french data center".
Yes, it is true that a bunch of french players are bad, but so are some english and german speaking players - and usually it is not those bad frenchies that make a run worse, but those who can not stop complaining, refuse to stop healing/tanking and/or leave the dungeon just like that. And truth to be told, I had better and more positive experiences with Chaos DC players than Light DC players, despite them always stating the opposite.

I used to be on Mateus. I dislike roleplay and seeing it everywhere I go in the cities. So for me, Mateus/Balmung are horror servers. The content in the RP on Mateus wasn't necessarily horrid, just a little lewd at times (to be expected) and some people get really into it (good for them if they enjoy it). I have noticed that there was wide skill gap on Mateus and with the wide skill gap, I ran into quite a few elitist on the server.

As far as the primal servers, I would have to say from personal experience, Leviathan/Excalibur have the most rotten apples per capita on them (Not saying the whole server is, just a handful of peeps). Both are semi raiding servers, so with raiders you are bound to run into people who consider themselves better than others at everything.

Outside of the just a handful of experiences in both area mentioned above, I wouldn't consider any particular sever to be unbearable for the average person. If you hate RP, I would shy away from Mateus/Balmung.

Louisoix isn't so bad really, there's still available houses in most zones and dungeon queues are usually pretty fast. However anyone thinking of moving here be warned. Our economy is completely screwed up. You either have items saturated by bots with multiple stacks of 99 dirt cheap, or you have to pay at least double what an item costs on Omega when it comes to glamour and crafted stuff. Trying to get that single gemstone or lump of wood is almost impossible as it's either flooded with big stacks with perhaps a single item that costs more than a stack of 99 or there's 1-5 stacks of 20-99 at ridiculously high prices. Many times while levelling my crafters I have found myself screaming at the screen when I check marketboard for the one item I can't seem to get to drop or can't craft yet. The flip side of this is that it is quite easy to save up for a house but with one caveat. Pretty much anything you decide to sell will suddenly have 20 people come out of the woodwork and undercut it to worthlessness if it hasn't sold within a few minutes.

But before that happens, I'd like to address the "horror stories". Having transferred from Famfrit to Mateus some... 8 months ago? Something like that. I have not as of yet seen anything that stood out as particularly horrible. Yes, there is the Lewdsand and there's the occasional random weirdo who might whisper an ERP proposal to you if you happen to be passing through, but those are outliers - I wouldn't consider that representative of the overall community. Outside of that, the RP community is sane, friendly, respectful and most RP events worth attending are well organised, efficiently moderated and typically held in the housing wards so well out of the way of players uninterested in or trying to avoid them.

One thing I absolutely adore about Mateus is its huntshell community. There are several huntshells I'm a part of, scouts work around the clock, hunt trains are organised every day, special FATEs are called out when found and typically a massive crowd of people will show up within minutes of a relay, ready to go. It works like a well-oiled machine. Since I started hunting, I've also not seen a lot of poaching incidents, but when they do happen, the huntshells try to salvage the situation by organising active hunts instead until things return to normal.

TL;DR: I came for the RP and it turned out okay, I stayed for the hunts.
