File validator on the FFXIV Boot Launcher

Why is there no file checker on the Boot launcher yet. its been 5 years now and nothing has changed.
Only solution to repair the game when its files a corrupted by a virus, a hard drive malfunction or internal issues is to uninstall the whole game then reinstall it which can take up to 15hours or less.
this is a great waste of time the consumers pay money for, should this not be addressed already?

I just have a backup of the game files every couple updates, since you can just delete them and copy back over and the game will run and update. I haven't done a fresh install in years haha.

Completely agree. Like Lenneth here, I had to create a copy of the game that I update from time to time as a backup, but this shouldn't be necessary. A file checker would be ideal. Supported.

As a PS4 player who has no idea of such things - would a file validator see the 'error' with modded files/texture mods and correct them?

But yeah, such a tool sounds good. Re-Downloading is a pain.

Yes, it would. But you probably don't want to run a file check on the whole dat every time you launch the game. File validations are typically done by taking a hash value of a given file and then comparing it against the hash on the server's side. The game is over 40GB big however, so validating every file would take time, meaning a sensible implementation of this would just run when the player chooses to do so.

The way game mods currently work is bad anyway, you don't really want to write custom stuff in the game files themself.

The crazy thing is that even FF 11 has one of these. I wonder why 14 doesn't. Basically your only recourse if you think your files are messed up is to delete them out of the system folder and let the launcher download the entire game again. If you had a file checker it would just find the files that were corrupted and redownload them, saving a ton of time since most of your other files are just fine.

I was just thinking it was odd that there wasn't one when I recently had a drive corruption. Fortunately FFXIV wasn't affected.

It would certainly be nice to have a file checker. While my internet's decently fast, redownloading a game upwards of 30GB isn't as friendly to my ISP's newfangled bandwidth limits.

SE could even probably take a note from some other games and do the whole file stream thing for newer players too. No reason to prevent a person from doing 2.0 content if they don't even have a character progressed far enough to enter 3.0 and 4.0 maps. (So let people login with a partial install if they can access those areas!)

the game files are just getting larger with each patch and expansion.
Shadowbringers is just around the corner and i would hate to spend the time i paid on my sub to reinstall the whole game again.
Also making a copy of the games install folder is just too data consuming for some if not most.
if there is any corrupt data in a reinstall, i would need to uninstall and reinstall all over again, we really do need a file checker in the launcher if the game size continues to grow.
