    Blue Mage and its gear

Hello, I am diving into Blue Mage, and I have some small issues with some Masked Carnival stuff. True, those challenges are more based on strategy than raw strength, but even so, with how long some of them take, I am questioning if the official BLU outfit, and the upgraded Tomestone of Poetics stuff (iLevel 130, except for the 2nd Ring, which is 120) is truly the best stuff to offer.

I saw some people wearing Augmented Ironworks stuff, and while I could rush out to get that, I do recall certain people saying that BLU does not benefit from any stats aside from Intelligence, which would mean that all this work would be for naught.

Basically: Does BLU rely on stats other than Intelligence? And would me going crazy with gear here make a significant difference, or would I be better off just perfecting myself in combat?

BLU damage is based on all stats that apply to all other casters except weapon damage.

The only mage stat that doesn't do anything for BLU is the only stat they cannot get. Weapon damage.

All other stats effect them just the same as any other caster. Only, they get bonus value from Int to make up for their lack of weapon damage.

Outside of this, a potential reason for long fights in Masked Carnivale can be due to incomplete rotations. Since, for full damage output BLU would like to use Song of Torment (From Pharos Sirius), Eruption (From EX-Ifrit), Shock Strike (From EX-Ramuh) and Glass Dance (From EX-Shiva) the latter 3 having depressingly low learning rates. The difference these can make is enhancing your total DPS by 50-100% (I.e. Going from ~300 DPS to 500-600 DPS)

As such, popular tactics are to just cheese everything by using Moon Flute + Bristle + Off Guard + Final Sting/Toad Oil + Peculiar Light + Self Destruct where possible to instantly kill some of the stages. In lieu of farming for the skills to fight them properly at a reasonable pace.

If u really dive deep into Blue-BiS Gear don’t forget their 3rd set: Aside of the Cls gear and iron works there is still the Bahamut Coil gearset. You could mix a pure crit/ss Build out of those 3 sets. ^^
