The current form of Triple Triad is nothing but just a boring RNG based grindfest, when it comes to collecting the cards and I think, theres alot of unused potential, to make TT in itself alot better, fun and interesting for players in FF14.
First of all, it has to be said, that FF14's TT is absolutely nothing like the original TT from FF8 - sadly.. it shares only the same backgroundmusic and board design aside of the basic ruless.
The following points would I love to see getting adressed with Triple Triad in the future:
1) Remove the silly low drop, which feel like being 0,001% chances of Cards from playing with NPCs and turn it into some kind of guaranteed Card Reward every x to xx games.
2) Bring back the Elemental Fields as part of Triple Triad that Cards have have Elements and if layed upon an Elemental Field, can receive either Boosts or Debuffs in their Points
3) Make Hero Cards just like the original IMMUNE to all Rules, so that those stupid NPCs can just steal on the first turn with that idiotic trade rule your best card, which you often need to be able to win against the unfair NPC enemies, which ignore the card star limit often and play with decks, we players can only dream off ...
4) Let All NPCs reward players only maximum with 2 different possible Cards. There exist some NPCs, that have now like 4 different cards all with different rarity factors, and with NPCs that have like 4 different cards to earn, its a hell to get just that 1 card, that you need. Either reduce this, and give the moved cards from the npcs to some new added npcs, or look at point 5
5) Implement for the card reward a guaranteed drop mechanic, with gives you a card that you don't own yet like every 50 or ever 99 wins, basically similar like the primae mount tokens, there should be a kind of an end to this ridiculous rng , like there is one with the mount drops, this should be done with cards andm ost likely with other one time receiveable unlock items, like songs too...
6) Remove annoying Rules, that weren't even part of the FF8 original like and implement therefore missing ones from the original version, like Wall-Same, or Combo for some nice different chain reactions, other than Plus or Same
7) Add a Trade Function between players, so that players can eventually trade their excessive amounts of double/triple cards with an other player, if you find somebody whos willing to trade cards with you, or if not with players, then implement a trade service with an npc, so that I can trade cards I dont need anymore, but got eventually not against MGP, but instead trade the cards that surpass together a certain MGP value for a card, that I need and can be traded in (the tradeable cards may change daily, to make it not too easy and those that are accepted for trade may change eventually also daily or weekly), this way could cards you dont need eventually be useful for you still, even if you dont care for MGP
