Fatal DirectX Error 11000002

Hello,

I get a Fatal DirectX Error 1100002 that crashes the game. I tried to take a screenshot by pressing printscreen and also through steam overlay but they didnt come out.

If I turn off FPS regulation it happens fast (at login screen usually), If i Regulate to 60fps it happens regularly but I have not noticed it happen when I regulate to 30fps. I got the idea to regulate to 30fps because I'm too chicken to mess with my GPU's hardware settings directly (I read in other posts online that underclocking your GPU fixes this error).

Having said this running the game at 30fps when my rig can handle much much more galls me.

I would like a proper solution to this issue if possible, thanks!

I have the latest Nvidia/Windows drivers.

The problem started from when I just started to play the game again after a break of several months a few days ago.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

How long have you been experiencing the crash? You mention you changed the resolution, have you tried switching to borderless fullscreen or windowed mode?

On the system report, the driver's last update was on February 6th. A new driver update is available as of February 22, If you have not done so already, please make sure its downloaded.

Evan 748. In order to take a screenshot of the error message press the Windows Logo key+Prtscn at the same time. Image will be stored in C:\Users\(user)\Pictures\Screenshots. As the game has crashed SEs screenshot function does not work.

Despite what some people are saying this is a compatibility problem FFXIV, DirectX and a third or more program. As each PC is different with different program builds the only way to troubleshoot the problem is to disable all programs (active or in the background) except the game If stability is established then reintroduce other programs until the crashes reoccur. This should tell you where the incompatibility is. The Forum Moderators have made numerous recommendation, most of which are valid but as I say each PC and build is different and this method is the only real effective method of determining the cause(s). I am currently doing this now for the same problem. If you do find the cause using this method I recommend letting the Moderators know your results so a database can be compiled

Sorry for taking so long to reply had some RL things.

I Updated my Nvidia drivers and I also tried a clean boot, neither stopped the error.

It seems related to FPS for some reason. I turned off frame limiting while testing for the error and it happens without fail withing 5 minutes of playing. @60FPS limit it still has the error but takes longer usually to manifest, @30FPS limit I have yet to have the error occur.

EDIT: Also this happens in none of the other games I play (which is a lot of games).

Were any updates or changes made to your PC recently ? Also does this crash happen on Direct X9 or just on Direct X11? Have you tried running the game on DX9? Try switching to DirectX 9 by selecting the ‘Config’ button on the launcher.

Hello Dynratygus,

The Dx11 error has been happening since I re-subbed a couple of weeks ago so no changes to my PC.

I loaded FFXIV in Dx9 today and put the frame limiter back to 60FPS, the game seems stable in DirectX 9 so far.
