Query about dual system buyers options PC/PS4

Hi all, this is going to be a bit tricky for me to explain that well, as my Dyslexia causes me to get muddled.

Since Stormblood came out (which was when I first played FF14), I have owned and played on the PS4-Pro for most of that time. At the end of last summer, I was able to build myself a good enough "gaming" PC that I bought the special Windows digital bundle, offered to people who have the game already on a different system.

Due to a spinal injury, I am only able to sit at my desk on the PC for about an hour on a good day, before I have to lay down and rest my back. This means I will typically log out from the Windows Client and then log back in on my PS4-Pro. This allows me to be active in game for greater periods of time, such as doing FC trails/duties etc.

With Shadowbringers coming out later this year, I am going to have to buy myself two licences (Windows and PS4), which is, for me, a big outlay. I was wondering if SE/retailers do any type of bundle offers, where I can get two digital licences, which will save money when compared to having to buy them individually? I don't know how common it is for people to play the game on two different systems, using the same account?

The reason why I don't just use my PS4-Pro for FF14, is down to how much better my PC is able to handle 4k at 60fps when I am doing the larger group content such as Alliance raids. When there are so many people letting off attacks and heals in a small area, I have found that even a PS4-Pro tends to hiccup and drop frames. Even with things turned down on the in-game system settings, I have still had this happen and I often end up taking damage or wiping, as I am unable to react to a mobs attacks quickly enough. On my old PS4, this could even cause the game to lockup and crash on me. It also pushed my PS4 so badly, that it eventually died on me, as the thing would always be screaming away as the fans tried to keep the unit cool.

I posted this here, as I am not sure what part of the English forums is the correct section for a query like this. As I mentioned above, I am not even sure if there are that many who would/need to regularly switch between a PC and a PS4. It's a very 1st world problem that's for sure.

    Cheers,

    Felix

I don't think they have ever had a bundle including multiple platforms. Sounds like you prefer the PC. Maybe buy PC first and then buy the PS4 when it goes on sale. The best place to ask these kinds of questions may be support chat. If you hit "contact us" you will have to do at least one search and then they give you the chat option.

    Thank you for that link.

I think the Windows version is noticeably better than what the PS4-Pro can do. I've been trying to use mouse and keyboard for doing dungeons, but I've found it really difficult to use the key-binds for the hotbars. I might have to mess about with how I layout the bars in the UI, as I don't have problems playing WoW with mouse and keyboard (cancelled my WoW sub after learning about them laying 800 people off, just to improve the profit margins, yet 5 executives took home $70million in bonuses last year). The X bar system with the controller works so well.

It's just my back limits the amount of time I can spend sat on my chair sadly. When I got my Windows licences, they had a special bundle that had ARR/HW/SB together at a really heavily reduce price. You could only get this bundle if you already had the game on a different platform. I think I would get the PS4 version first, as I can at least play it when my back is sore.

I realised that they can only offer the new expansion as a physical copy on the PS4 on the SE store, as any digital download is via the PSN store.

I have to ask Felix, since you are used to the PS4, why not just use a controller with your PC to play the game?

Controller use is built right into the game and supports both PS and xbox controllers. You can also configure the hotbars and buttons to do whatever you want to.

I am on PC and I have used both types with the game and it is super easy to do. Just go out and buy a PS pc adapter and sync your PS4 controller to it.

Though, I will tell you right now though, xbox is better because of the whole powerpack thing. Instead of having to charge the PS controller itself on USB when it dies. It's just easier to switch out powerpacks on the Xbox controller real fast and resync it. Well you CAN play on the PS controller whole it is charging, but you are stuck tethered instead of wireless till it's done.

Oh, in case you haven't seen it in the latest patch notes: server backup of setting is now cross-platform between PC and PS4 (officially still in Beta tho).

I also consistently play on a PS4, and a Windows version. I don’t know if this is an option, but could you connect your computer to your television? like someone else mentioned, you can use a controller to play on your PC. I’m not sure if the television hook up is an option for you, based on the television you have. I personally have an HDMI cable going from my laptop to my television sometimes.

Maybe buy yourself a nice chair you could adjust to the angle in which you lie on it?
You could buy one for just 399$ and it could do THIS. xD

My PC and PS4 run through the same screen in my room When I need to lay down/use my PS4, my screen swings around so I can see it from my bed. Because of how my bedroom is setup, it would be difficult to just play the PC from my bed, as I do play other games etc on the PC, where having my desk with the keyboard and mouse is needed. I will need to mull over things, as I might have a work around. I actually have a keyboard running from my PS4-Pro, so maybe I could rig something up.

I just plug the USB cable in the PS4 controller, which is hooked up to my PC. Outside of Duty's / Trails etc, I will just have it running in mouse+keyboard mode. When it's time to do a dungeon, I just switch it to controller mode. The one thing I like with using a PC is I can use Discord and chat with my FC members, through out the day. Typically my push to talk button has been the back button on my mouse, I don't know if I could set the "Share" button for push to talk?

Again, thanks guys, you've got me looking at this in a different way, as I might be able to get away with using my PC for both when I am at my desk and when I need to rest on my bed.

    Then actually.
Buy a bluetooth adapter for your dualshock 4 controller, and play the game from your bed with a controller on PC. Im pretty sure the controller will also be catching the audio from your headset when you plug it into the controller, it works like another audio device i/o.

Seems to me a good solution would be to stop using the PS4 and only use PC. You could accomplish this a number of ways with your back:

    1) Get a controller for your PC so you could play laying down (possibly wireless would be best?)
    2) Get a M/KB "tray" to lay across you while you lay down.
    3) Get a reclining chair (most expensive option, though not having to buy a second copy of FF14 would help offset maybe)

Just a few suggestions. I'm sure there are other things you could try too.
