Exaggerations and overreactions like this thread are why people think devs don't listen to NA players. Japanese players aren't obsessed with butt sliders and complaining about non-issues or content that isn't out or even officially announced yet.

If you want to go into BA and make it to some extent in an organized manner, join the Discord, agree to the etiquette and not to screw over your fellow raid mates (that's the "agree to their ToS" thing) and jump into a group when someone is doing a learning party.

The discord is how NA/EU is dealing with the way devs designed BA, the discord isn't the cause and they don't "claim" instances or portals, when someone approaches your portal that isn't in the discord, you are encouraged to politely tell them you're in an organized group and offer an invite to the discord, if someone is in the discord, and jumps in your portal, they're being rude and disregarding the etiquette, so they are either reminded or booted depending on how many times they've done this. It isn't as bad as some are making it out to be.

EDIT: I should also point out, since some have apparently thought it would be some sort of justice to snipe portals and leave these "monopolizing elitists" down a party member, that's griefing and it's against ToS. If you're going to snipe, which I sincerely discourage you from doing, you should probably try your best to contribute. You can't really be carried through BA.

I don't really have a stake in this but if people are acting like jerks then they deserved to be punished. I also don't think that the actions of a few should result in the actions of many being judged either. People are trying to create order where there is none, no thanks to SE. Good on them. Maybe if SE would give a hoot about their game more we would have had an actual way to recruit for this in game to begin with! Also, leave character customization out of this. It is unrelated but still a bit of an issue that is best not discussed in this thread.

That's not what I described, but you're right. The griefing comes in when you take up a portal and then just leave or if you sit outside boss fights expecting a carry.

There was a GM message a few days ago all these Discord players were being enamored with, so now they go in instances and scare players by telling them they'll report them for taking "their" portals. It's not "sniping", the portals are fair game for everyone in the instance. If you follow a specific player around constantly to take their portal, that's another story, or follow people around with the sole intent of taking a portal spot and doing none of them content yourself, that's also another story.

Those discord servers don't work for everyone and some of them tend to have heavy favoritism.

As if that'd happen. You'll try, mess it up and cause a wipe. That's how it goes with PUGs since the dawn of time.

It's only griefing if they go in and don't attempt the content, leaving, standing outside the bosses, etc. When you see someone shouting to antagonize people over "claims" those people are told by 3-5 people in VC to stop doing that, those people aren't exactly common.

I haven't seen favoritism in the discord. I feel like a lot of these claims are based on assumption and not experience.

What they left out was the 2nd half of the post saying that it only applies if people are doing so with the intention of griefing or trolling. Going in of your own free will with the intention of doing the content is fine, regardless of who the portal was "stolen" from. I'm all for common courtesy. People have the right to ask for the portals. That doesn't mean that people can't decline or ignore such requests though.

The Discord only report players that intentionally takes a portal to ruin the raid, or players that enter and return. The Discord isn't elitist in any way, they are just trying to get people together and help clear it. I've never seen anyone threaten to report anyone personally but I do believe that some do. The Public discord is just a bunch of pugs working together to get everyone the mount and your all welcome to join. (I'm from Diabolos the mateus thing wont update)
