I'm being pedantic but agreeing to rules is a prerequisite. Not disputing that the rules are reasonable. Just saying.

So is this a case of the game not creating enough instances of BA, which then causes people to fight over instances? Bear in mind I haven't even set foot in Hydatos yet never mind do BA.

As for the bad eggs, well anyone unfortunate enough to know is aware that it can take only one to make an entire group look really bad. I hope for that discord group they sort this out fast, because it's causing them to get very controversial attention.
Quoted because of "Holy moly, this sounds insane. If what OP is saying is true this has got to be against some rule. There is no way that it's okay to hold content hostage unless you sign a player created ToS."
There is no "holding the content hostage," but there are ALWAYS player created rules. It's the same as trying to join a static or a PF with a predefined strategy. If all the PFs says clockwise, but you want to do counterclockwise, you either start your own group and do it your way or you don't join. If the PF requires discord and you don't want to join discord, you don't join the PF. The difference here is of course, that the instances are limited, but there is nothing stopping anyone, if they want, to from starting their own group and attempting the content. The only rule is that if you want to use the discord and raid with the discord using the discord's tools, you have to agree to abide by some basic rules of courtesy.

It's only a "visible" problem because the people who REALLY wanted to clear the content all joined the discord. As a result, if the premades don't go on, basically no one does. So the few people who are extremely averse to joining a discord for whatever reason, don't get anywhere. I don't really know how to help them, the content is not friendly to just dropping in because you're in the zone.
