We don't need to have two ring slots in the first place tbh. It's an arbitrary number considering there are 10 fingers. Why not make the ring appear on both hands or one hand depending on the design, just like the other accessories?

If they just got rid of the 2nd ring slot you would need to rebalance the whole stat system cause you would loose a lot of stats from one ring. If they changed the 2nd ring slot to say.. capes, you then have to make the cape visible on the character model since rings are visible if you don't have gloves on. Seeing as how at the EU fan fest they talked about how difficult it was to put capes on the Armour I doubt they would want to make a cape slot visible. So they could just leave that blank but I have a feeling people would be unhappy with that. What then do you replace the 2nd ring slot with? You could make the 2nd ring slot the Job Stone slot, and have the Job Stone level with you and give you stats based on that, like what they are doing with the pre-order earrings. Job Stones already give you some stats I think simply by changing you from a class to a job. Just splitting the rings into Left and Right is probably more work then they are willing or can afford to do tho. So I think it would be more likely for them to put a "upgraded" ring in the 24 man raids or a EX primal like they have in the past. I would prefer the 24 man tho since not everyone does EX primals. Tho I'm guessing there are some that don't do 24 man raids either lol.

Well not necessarily, look at the Belt slot which has no glamour at all but still has stats and tends to be grouped with accessories when it comes to rarity. Belts originally had Glamour but they were removed, so you could do the same thing with one of the ring slots but then not everyone would be happy and I'm for more slots having glamour rather than less.If they changed the 2nd ring slot to say.. capes, you then have to make the cape visible on the character model since rings are visible if you don't have gloves on. I mean you could just consolidate more stats in to the Belt items and then just outright remove one of the ring slots, essentially the only thing lost in this case would be customisable glamour for both hands (i e. two rings), but most are unnoticeable anyway. System seems kinda fine as it is though so unless there is some great idea to replace it, just have to make do with it.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Partially because for several years players have been able to glam different rings on different hands. It would suck to have this option removed. This would cause a lot of backlash. Although SE could continue to give us two finger glam slots...but that would be extra development on top of changing how ring combat stats work...
...honestly this is a lot of needless development just so someone can have matching tome rings. It would be easier to just remove the unique tag from tome rings. Or OP could stop being so obsessive about having two ilvl 400 tome rings. Of all the little tweaks the game needs this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the list.
I'm here to request the removal of the Unique tag outright for gear you can buy from vendors. I understand the logic behind Unique-locking instance drops, but if it's something you can buy for tomes? It feels like a foolproof mechanism that in the long run hurts players more.
To begin with, they can pop up a message saying you already own the item if it bothers them so much. Second, it's not like people can't accidentally rebuy items already, if the first copy is with their retainer or in their saddlebag. Ultimately people need to be smart about their purchases and item management.
The benefits from it would be amazing though. For starters, obviously, it will solve the problem this thread brought up. Second, it will help somewhat with min-maxing if a basic piece of gear is good for two jobs, but the melding is different. And for the truly pedantic, it'll give another means to micro-manage glamours - two pieces of gear with the same ilvl and same melds, different looks.
You're basically asking the raiding playerbase to have to consider not just 2, but 3 rings now when planning what to upgrade for their job(s). Based on the job, it would go like:
"The left ring has Skill Speed but the right ring has Crit, but the Savage ring has even more Skill speed but I might get get it this week. maybe I get the tome right ring and upgrade it to max and pray that the Savage ring drops...oh wait I completely forgot about crafted rings....fml"
Yeah this seems like a bigger headache than having 2 perfectly matching tome rings.

Raiding isn't the end all be all to the game tho.
Just because you don't need something doesn't mean you can't want something. Relic is perfect example of this.
