    Merging characters as a service

    I recently came back to the game after four years or so along with some friends, for various reasons our characters were all on different servers so we had to make new ones to run as a group (couldn't afford a character migration at the time, plus preferred world bonus does not apply to old characters) but this left the lot of us with characters we're just not using.
    We'd rather not just delete them, but we aren't really going to be playing them, and we'd like to not lose out on all the work already put in. So I was thinking, what if they offered a service to move all exp, and currency from your other characters into one (probably on a character by character basis) for a fee. Items would be...a bit problematic...with space concerns and all. Quest progression could be moved over though...

    Unrelated to the first suggestion...how about a crafting bag? With one character being able to do it all, the inventory is significantly small to carry all kinds of gear on top of crafting materials.

    Fishers are screaming for a seperate bag for their bait, but it's always been said that it won't come, so I supposes crafters won't get something like that either.

    I don't know why we couldn't have one. Lots of other MMOs have done a mats bag, and with the set up they have in XIV a craft bag would only make more sense. I think it would be fine if the craft bag was accessible from your inn room/apartment/private quarters, as long as you could craft from it while in the room, makign it more of a craft repository than a craft bag... You'd still have to carry the materials back there to drop them off, but there should be an overall lightening of the load (so to speak) even with that system. Also could have the added effect of clearing up some of the clustering of players around summoning bells in the market areas.
    Crafting has always been a bit of a sticking point for me and a few people I know...typically boring, if not boring then time consuming at least, and it usually proves to be difficult to keep it up with your combat class levels to keep them relevant. Particularly if you need stuff from killing mobs like Leatherworking does in XIV. Unfortunately I haven't any ideas on how they could fix that...aside from maybe adding in a greater level of automation. Being able to tell your retainers what mats to go after would help a little maybe...

    Here's another crafting thought. What about an ability to refine materials into their high quality variants?

    It is a nice idea, it deserves its own thread, tho.

    About "merging" characters, I thought of it as a nice thing, but quite hard to get because it collide with payment services as jump potions, fantasia, character-based items on mog station, and so on, so I think the feature will be fated to be just a dream.

    They increased stack sizes and added the chocobo saddles I think these were good changes to help with the storage issue. There are only about 8 fish in each area, 16 with hq and they use 1-3 baits so bag space is not an issue for fishers as they would have to teleport anyways, might as well pop off to your summoning bell.

    Collectables though... really should stack or go in quest storage...
