    I had the same issue. I'm "new" to FF XIV, started a week ago, but I did try it back in the ps3 days. I got lucky and tried the trial edition before I bought the game though, but it wouldn't even let me boot up the game on my ps4.
    Contacted SE and, like you, they told me to contact Sony. Contacted Sony, and they told me to contact SE.

    The solution I came up with was to create a new email address, set up a separate psn account, then used that to purchase and play the game with no issue. It sucks that the game isn't on my main account, but the game is completely worth it, in my opinion. Couldn't get out of the run around loop, so came up with my own solution. Hope it works out for you!

    I did get an email from them for my first ticket from last Saturday. They said they couldn't do it. It's just annoying because if they would just tell me my psn account name I could get on with Sony customer support and get my account back and rebuy Stormblood for the ps4 again just so I can fix this issue. I have a ticket floating around asking for my psn account details but something tells me SE is gonna tell me no again.

    Sony can give you the PSN ID but not the e-mail address used to create it. You have to provide all possible e-mails that you might have used to create an account and they will check if it exists in their system or not.
    I suggest providing Sony with as many information as you can to prove that you're the owner of that account, information such as your date of birth and the answer to your security question.

    I did and I recovered 3 accounts but none of them had FFXIV on them. I'm kinda confused as well because I have no other emails left. I literally have no idea what email it could be. I'm still waiting on my last ticket.

    Again I forgot I made this post, but this is still an issue. I'm just bumping this so that maybe someday we can unlink psn accounts without completely removing our ability to do it. There is no service to do what I need done and SE and Sony refuse to help me.

    They only good news is I know the PSN account name. Unfortunately they want UPCs and credit card numbers I haven't had in years. Stuck between a rock in a hard place.

    I’ve always found SE to be reasonably helpful with account based things.

    To me this sounds more of a Sony issue as it’s related to your PSN. So I imagine that’s why you’ve been sent there.

    Sony customer service is dreadful. Like talking to robots.

    It's 100% a Sony issue. I need information I don't have and they won't let me prove otherwise. I made the account back in like 2006 when I was a dumb kid(I was 19, but still pretty stupid) so of course I don't remember it. If SE could just unlink the thing without completely borking my account I'd be happy, but I'm at impasse.

    At the end of the day it's a me issue as well. Of course now I have a better handle on these things.

    I'm just shouting at clouds hoping that eventually something can fix this even if that something is Xbox support. I have access to that!

    Do you have any friends who you know of from back when you had that account?

    Maybe they could help remember your account name or enough of it for you to remember the entire thing?

    I know I remembered someone's character name for another MMO when he needed to gain access and it required a character name and he had forgotten his characters' names.
