The sword was never a part of BLU identity, that belonged to RDM who is a mix of WAR,BLM, and WHM. BLU was always about learning fiend magic and using it against their foes. My theory on why they used physical weapons in some older FFs is because they needed to learn their first spells, so they had to deal decent damage somehow; however that\\'s not the case in FF14 since we learn our first spell from a cutscene fight.

So I must agree with ReiMakoto on this point and say no to the sword.

Plus our pimp canes are so stylish I could have never thought of such a neat design for a weapon.
Don't forget about FF Explorers (they could dual wield swords and even equip guns); though, I know it's not a numbered FF game. Ffxi Blu ended up being very dependent on dual wield swords to the point that skillchains with spells almost became a dps loss. I understand that ffxiv is not ffxi. I really don't mind the weapon they use now, just the limit of the job.

The thing is. If their excuse was it was soooooo powerful that it couldn't work in normal play. Make it super god like in the old fights! Let me cast Doom on Ifrit and kill him! Let me use Level 5 Death on Omega! At least then I could use it to farm old content for glams and mounts. But of noooooo. They have to make it a super weak class that also can't do actual content.

The way BLU has been implemented is just so dull and unimaginative. I wish Square would just admit they messed up with this whole "limited job" thing and fix it.

Sadly, the fact they're expanding on that concept rather than stalling it longer and make a complete rework on the job speaks otherwise. 100% waste of resources if it's going to be dead content within a month...again

All the content they're coming with for blue page was already created back when blue mage was implemented, they said they already had everything up to 60 but didn't want to release it until 5.1 so it didn't take away from expansion, and to give time for players to learn the job.

My issue is they should have scrapped it when they saw it die off after a week, and shouldn't be hoping itll be different this time when it's just more of the same.

Killing mobs and job switching till level cap, take 2.

pretty sure they removed the ability to do that, go into the overworld and try it, takes about 5 seconds after killing something to change class

I waited for blu since 2.0 and finally we have it and its trash. I can't main it at all. This job became a literal mini game. If i could punch the devs in the face for this dumb idea. Seriously why make a known and loved job a shit show. He said he wanted to give blue mage the true feel of blue mage.... Sounds like they didn't care to me. They could've made it just like how it was in 11. Level up get spells play with other ppl in current content. How is it so hard to do it. Its not hard i know for a fact its not hard for the developers its just shows how you dont care. I feel like they completley stop listening to us and instead focusing on making money like all business people do and not care about the players. This truly angers me how they have not said not 1 thing about blue. I feel like going into strike or something this is sooo aggravating

FFXIV is so rigid that allowing one job to customise it's abilities would cause all kinds of problems, or at least that is what they are probably thinking. They don't want people to come with subpar abilities to group content.

Then that's that players prerogative. Some players on console go into content with only half of their abilities in their xhbar because they don't know about the expanded bar settings. There is also nothing stopping a player from going into content without a job stone equipped. Bad players will be bad. Don't punish others because some players might not play optimally. That already happens.

If a lancer joins a PF, everyone can clearly see that he doesnt have a job stone and do something about it.

If a BLU joined a PF, there is no way of telling what skills they have until it's too late and a waste of time.

I already have to worry if players know fights. I dont want to add to that.

Give them job quests spells that are the only spells used in main content and call it a day imo.
