By their M.O. They will likely try again with the whole BLU team content they are offering for 5.1x. What that brings us is well... anyone's guess really. I don't have hopes for a rework, tbh. But I'll cheer you on from the sidelines.
If you say so.
Honestly, none of that was the issue. Like, at all. Acquiring spells by watching monsters use them is not a radical concept that can never work in the modern theme park MMO or even a multiplayer setting. Neither is forcing specific core spells to participate in content while otherwise allowing customization. The issue with BLU, as it is right now, was entirely self-inflicted by pushing a design concept nobody asked for based on a flawed fantasy that BLU should have a billion spells nobody uses ala FF11 and that gameplay should center around niche content exploitation ala FF5 speedruns. Nothing about current spell acquisition is prevented them from making BLU a normal job with a normal gameplay, and it wouldn't be BLU's first rodeo in that sense-- Strago, Quistis, Enemy Skill FF7, Kimahri, FF Explorers BLU, all were implementations with a limited number of non-overpowered spells that were basic dps or niche utility. This was a prerogative that SE could've avoided. Many people through the rumors and hopes of adding BLU all pointed to how SE could've added some flavor job quests that would basically pit you vs the mob/monster/instance fight that would lead you to the acquisition of skills, but instead we got a rather "hollow" job experience in favor of a form of customization that didn't lead anywhere outside of reviving old areas for a few weeks.
These designers just decided to opt out of tackling that problem and take the easiest way out: don't design a gameplay for BLU at all and put it in a box with a bunch of random hobbled spells. Given they thought that was acceptable, we shouldn't have been surprised when they took similar shortcuts by homogenizing healer and tank kits, removing most buffs and debuffs and utility, and dropping the pet concept entirely.

I think having a cane as a weapon is a rather stylish decision!
I don't mind what physical weapon they have. I just want the class to be reworked into an actual job. Even if it's not likely, I'll keep hoping.
Here's what I would like to see do:
Need:
1. add a checkbox in duty finder settings that consents to allowing yourself to Queue with a BLU mage, making it so no one is forced to deal with one if they don't want to. (also make it so this box is only selectable for duties that have already been completed)
2. Let BLU queue for duties that have already been completed by the player.
QoL:
3. Add EXP boost to mobs that are part of FATES, the reward for completing FATES is about the same as killing 1 mob anyway, so really this would just make it more interesting than just killing regular overworld mobs, it would also help make fates become more active.
4. Make more spells instant/oGCD so the rotation feels better.
5. Increase Learn rate to 100% when clearing content using the min ilvl feature.

Idk why they make this blu sounds like it's the hardest thing to accomplishlike if it's rocket science. They could keep the learning and still keep it as a main job but they obviously didn't give a rats butt. What i also can't believe is when people ask questionnaire to yoshida and stuff not one person ever ask about blue mage.... If i could ask him a questions that will be my question 1-10. Rework blu to make it a proper job that fits into the game. I demand it. I want to be heard. This is my most concern for this game. Ever since they added blue mage i was disappointed and it completely ruined the game for me. I haven't been on for months. Granted i tried logging in but once i see the pointless of blue mage i log back out and lose interest. It's like for some reason all my interest in the game went away when blue was introduced as a mockery to make fun of. A pathetic knock off of a proper job. Like a huge slap in the face from the devs.
You have the right to be heard, but not the right to demand anything. You aren't owed a job to your liking just because you fantasize about it. If that were the case SMN would be summoning actual primals that do a wide range of things, but that's not how SMN works. And I live with it and move on.Idk why they make this blu sounds like it's the hardest thing to accomplishlike if it's rocket science. Some people have asked BLU related questions. Since before and after it came out. It's just the answers aren't what you want to hear. BLU will remain a limited job (side content), has content planned up to lvl 70 with some 120 spells and they will receive feedback when the job is fully implemented. Which I'm assuming that means when it's lvl 70. And feedback means ways to improve the experience and not throw the baby out with the bathwater and start over. Like how they didn't delete Eureka after Pagos, but made Pyros way more accessible.
And if I may ask, how would your feeling towards XIV be if BLU wasn't mentioned or added at all? If you say that adding a single job (that was likely not going to be added as a standard job when they have so many more straightforward options) ruined your enjoyment of XIV, maybe BLU is not actually the cause of this feeling? But rather an excuse?

If they never mentioned it or added i was perfectly fine. But once they did it ruined the game for me. No it's not an excuse it did ruin my enjoyment. Because it's my all time favorite job and it got shot down.
That's a pretty extreme reaction to a single job not being what you wanted. Favorite or not. It's hard for me to process how one job managed to ruin everything XIV for you. I can get disappointment in that you can't use it like a standard job, but thinking since 4.5.1 your excitement with the game just ended? Seems...bizarre.
Maybe an exaggeration, but it seems like SE are the only mmo whom struggle with job designs to this extent. No mmo is perfectly balanced, they all have issues, but SE makes it seem so difficult. Makes me wonder if the FF brand where not behind this game, how well it would actually fare.
It isn't a bad game, don't get me wrong. I do think they get away with a lot because the game is called Final Fantasy 14 and not Dungeon Fantasy 14.
I always wondered why I was never really looking forward to any jobs, maybe this is why....I don't know......I feel BST would be a rat master like a Plague's Tale or something.
