I can't say for sure if BLU players would mind being limited to a specific list of spells for duties/raids, though.
I think a lot of people who wanted Blue Mage wouldn't have minded just having the normal caster amount of spells either, with the only difference being you collected your spells through the overworld/ dungeons/ normal mode trials rather than leveling and job quests.
