Ninja Weapon Designs

So it seems that every time Ninja gets new weapons, the dev team takes a very liberal approach on their designs. Rarely do Ninja weapons ever look like Katanas. We get swords, weird things that barely pass as swords, and sometimes, the weapons are simply designer swords. I can count the number of actual Katana weapons in one hand. Classic Relic, Tier 2 Relic, and Seiryu's Daggers. I wish there were more Katana designs than there are... whatever these things are supposed to be. After see the Hydato's Daggers, I just had to post this.

Well they're supposed to be 'daggers' aren't they generally? Not dedicated 'katana' users like Samurai. I'm not surprised that only a few resemble katanas. I'm not sure why you would expect a majority of ninja weapons to be that particular style.

We need different types of kunai, imo. The only pair I can think of off hand is the Tsukuyomi pair, which I love.

I'd like to see more katanas as well, however I acknowledge that there's only so many ways to make something that's recognizably a katana and still be somehow different from all the other katanas. I look at the SAM katanas and I find that most of them look samey-samey. A lot of their customization is strictly on the sheathe, and NIN doesn't have that.

There's a weird thematic conflict just because Ninjas are as Doman/Hingan as Samurai, but their base class is pirates with knives. Their weapons should mainly be wakizashis or tantos, but a lot are some really weird and overly ornate things that look like fish hooks.

There's a good deal of paladin swords too that make me wonder what the designer was thinking too, including the hydatos and pyros swords.

They don't have to specifically be Katanas. Though I would like to see more of those. But how other people have mentioned, just more traditional "Ninja" weapons. Like Wakizashi, Tanto, Kunai, Sais, heck, even those chain sickle things which I can't remember. Generally, I just want more weapon designs that compliment the job thats supposed to wield them.

Chain weapons would be cool but due to the dual wield nature etc of Ninja and weapons never straying TOO far from the base idea I wouldn't expect to see them. But I don't think that a lot of what we see, even among the katanas, are actually accurate to real life ninjas anyway. FF XIV ninjas are very much fantasy ninjas with very little to ground them in actual ninja history. Which is fine, it's a fantasy game, and it's not like all paladin gear resembles historically accurate swords and shields either etc.

I would like to see more sais etc, and would like to see less over designed modern art inspired weapons in general, except for casters, I don't mind crazier stuff there.

Thank you for respecting the job aesthetic with these new Resistance Weapons and giving Ninjas more theme-appropriate weapons. I feel in some way, this post was seen by the devs and gave a small nod to it. So I just wanted to acknowledge the return to form weapon and say thank you.
