Been having steam issues since yesterday, as in can't access it at all(blue screen of death literally every time i try to start steam) and steam seems to be THE ONLY thing that does this.
So just wondering if there is any other way to load ffxiv?

If it's anything like FFXI was, and I see no reason why it wouldn't be, you'll have to download the installer from SE's site, install FFXIV using it, and then boot from that version instead of the Steam version. It worked when I wanted FFXI to stop loading up Steam every time, at least.
If there's any way that doesn't involve completely reinstalling it, I don't know of it.
If you install Steam version you actually need to start Steam?!...
You can play it by skipping Steam. Just install the launcher downloadable for the Free Trial from Square Enix and log-in as normal. The launchers are cross-compatible, the incompatibility seems to simply be artificial incompatibility of connecting the expansions with base game, nothing more.
Of course, that may mean you'll have to download the whole game from scratch.
EDIT: Guess I took to long. Anyway, I can confirm this works, at least. That's how I play having used the free trial first.
Nope.
Just start ffxivboot.exe directly.
I never used steam in conjunction with FF-XIV and I never will do so.
Wish I could bypass that lame launcher though. Man that thing is slow to start. >.<
Create a shortcut for ffxivboot.exe or ffxivboot64.exe from your FFXIV boot folder in Steam. Launch ffxivboot.
Also if you are getting BSOD from launching Steam, your computer has serious issues (possibly hardware problems like bad RAM).
Fried popoto enthusiast.
Oh, didn't see that.
I recommend immediate backup of all your data and then I would proceed to reset any overclock to standard do a clean install of Windows, to see whether it is software or hardware based.
If the issue persists, more drastic measures may be applicable.
So if i found it to be a recent driver update that was causing it and rolled back said update(steam is now working btw(for now i guess)) would it still be prudent to have any hardware checked? im not well informed when it comes to hardware issues so i wouldnt really know. Thanks to all that replied with help solutions.
